It contains an awesome gate plugin and an awesome compressor too. It's one of those freebie packages that don't get mentioned enough.

FL never had a good gate included. The best you can do is Maximus though, actually now that it is included I guess I'll need to retract my first statement.

@rea: Thanks to bmanic. Numanoid, they are vsts iirc so they should work in anything. I don't remember if I cared for that one or not.

We have a fairly big update to the engine for 12.3.1 that should be in Beta on Looptalk shortly. It solves all the issues people have had with loop-recording audio / MIDI too.

Could you be more specific? Other than what we've been talking about, what does FL have in that category?

Maximus seems to be doable though.

I dunno, he's pretty clever. I'd be interested in hearing what he meant.

When I say gate, I'm old-school. I mean like a good channel strip (SSL) or along those line. Most today are WAY too choppy in a bad way.

At any rate, the only gate I can ever remember that is dope is the old Sonalksis gate.

I have a degree in psychophysics, taught perception and psychophysics at the University of WA, Flinders University SA and consulted on the psychoacoustics of Delta-Sigma DACs for Rotel Corp. I have some idea of what 'quality' is and how to measure it.

Please provide an audio example of what you think is a good quality gate. Try to explain what makes a good quality gate if you know .

The Peak Controller introduces latency of exactly one buffer (size depending), therefore it always lags. How it sounds is irrelevant, since smoothing is likely to be used.

The new Vectorial UI makes it even easier too (draw your own curve, set RMS and tweak the sustain)...

Scott, the peak controller is awesome and your point is great. One thing though, many people looking for a gate might just want a simple gate as they is what they need. They do not want or need new tools like the peak controller which is really imo best used for really cool creative purposes. I think this might be a problem for some, they ask for a tool and the response is they do not need one because...
