Trying to find an 80s song with lyric "we can make it"?

There's a song I must've heard when I was much younger, used to be played in restaurants, supermarkets etc. on those 80s playlists.

[edit - sorry, clearly from my example it's not a rock ballad, more a "synthy ballad", no guitars I think]
It has a classic rock ballad feel to it and I can't really remember the lyrics, but the chorus simply goes upwards from C to D to E with (possibly???) the lyrics "we can make it"?

C...CC-C-D... DD-D-E....
C...CC-C-D... DD-D-E....

Seriously. It's driving me crazy. (no, not Fine Young Cannibals... another great 80s track :hihi: )

Google has let me down, all I can find is a Reddit page where someone is clearly looking for the same song! :help:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue/ ... 0s_or_80s/

Any help (for my sanity if nothing else) appreciated!

I know this can drive you nuts, I mostly look for songs without lyrics... which is even harder :D

+1 for Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" but instead of
C - D - E
it is
Fm - D - E
where the Fm is played in an inversion so the C's on top.

Well, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" doesn't have the lyrics "we can make it" in it and the chords in the chorus are more or less: Fsus4 (or F) to Dm7 to Bb to C

So, no, that's probably not it if the OP's description is remotely accurate.

^"Baby, we can make it if we're heart to heart"

But that's not in the chorus as described in the OP.

I also can't find any link to the C-D-E in that song either.

EDIT: I'm reaching here but how about Chicago's Dialogue (Part 2). It says, "We can make it happen. We can make it better" etc. over and over.

EDIT #2: The Sherbs "We Can Make it"?

Not quite 80's (1978) and not quite "we can make it" (We can make this whole damn thing work out.").

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions! I'm still on a horrible 3G-only connection at the moment, so some of these aren't loading for me and I'll have to check them out when I get WiFi access.

In case it helps jog anyone's imagination, I've knocked up (an embarrassingly bad) snippet from my memory. About 500k in size and just about managed to upload it.

- the original definitely has a kinda 80s 'synthy' feel to it.
- from memory, I totally can't work out what the beat was (clearly), or get it to fit the melody
- pretty sure the original doesn't have a wierd 4-bar/3-bar thing going on.
- male singer, possibly with an "Aha/Take On Me" style voice

Sounds like a nice tune though, looking forward to hear which one it is!

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
