Some other suggestions:chk071 wrote:Yeah.plexuss wrote:Spire is capable of some really clean silky sounds and is pretty easy to use.chk071 wrote:I think the main criterias were simplicity, a clean sound, and flexibility, not so much that it sounds exactly like a Roland synth.Dunno if it isn't a bit overkill, when something like TAL-U-NO-LX is wanted, but for VA sound, and for an advanced amount of flexibility, it's definitely a good suggestion.
Beepstreet Sunrizer: if you are careful this synth can create some nice smooth sounds and is easy enough to use and a good price too
FabFilter Twin2: same kind of sound as we are talking about and fun to use
U-he Hive: same
and I mentioned:
Spire and Diva but Diva might be a bit of work to "tame" into that Juno-y sound despite Diva's design.
I am only referencing synths I own so I can speak about them confidently.

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

Yes, the U-NO-LX really invites to use those controls. It almost feels like hardware.
Waves Element 2 is also a good compromise, if it runs on your system, that is.
It es complete enough, but not bloated. Every control seems to really do something. And modulation is surprisingly complete.

I'd even say Synthmaster is capable of similar sounds and also is easy enough to use if you stay on the surface.

this is really dependent of personal taste, you have to enjoy using the interface ..or the synth as good as it can sound will end up not used much.

Tal-Uno-LX is a great synth as was its inspiration.
The Korg Polysix legacy is comparable, both were classic hardware, both are very good software emulations.
Good luck!

In my view Tal's synth is another league compared to the Korg Polysix. Not only in terms of sound quality, its user interface is also the opposite, very good and inviting, whereas the Polysix with its tiny flimsy GUI is a pita

personally i prefer the overall range of sounds of the polysix although i would not discount TAL synth, it is very good. i also like the korg stuff because they are emulations of hardware i am actually familiar with. i think the effects section alone pushes it ahead for me...

The OP did not ask for Juno... but rather simple synths similar to Tal...plexuss wrote:Thats an SCI Pro-oneemulation, no? a very different beast than a Juno-6. in you are going for the Juno sound I wouldnt so much look at a Pro-one emulation, which is Curtis chip based, than a real Juno emulation.pdxindy wrote:Re-Pro One when it is finalized will be a similar synth. Exceptional sound quality with very wide easy sweet spots and simple editing.
Im looking for a 2nd hand license for Tal-u-no-lx if anyone has one.

its a simple synth that does classic raw analog sounds well, without the cpu overhead and convoluted gui of modern so called "all in one" monstrosities.chk071 wrote:Yep.starflakeprj wrote:I don't understand peoples' love for Charlatan. Each to his like. FWIW, apart from the sound, i often experienced the limitation of Charlatan, when playing around with it. With the feature monster synths these days, i find it pretty hard to limit myself to 2 oscillators, one filter, only amp and filter envelope, and one single LFO. It can sound as good as it wants, but that's pretty limiting for most sounds.

Well, let's not forget that the dev cut the CPU consumption to 50% with the 2.0 update, and that it was moderately CPU heavy before that. The price of good sound quality, and ZDF filters with a healthy amount of non-linearities. Add some architecture to it, same amount as more complex synths, and it will take the same amount of CPU every modern plugin does.

why do you even need another similar synth if you actually have Uno-LX?
