I have the exact same feeling. TruePianos sounds awesome to my ears. Pianoteq just sounds weird...

Well, no. You can really hear that TP is sample-based... which I don't like. That and it's not been updated in ages, Pianoteq is constantly and consistently supported.

have my macbook pro at a collab's place today (running thru her audio interface/monitors). she has a steinway grand, so... we compared. pianoteq is good, and great to play, but it does not sound real next to the steinway, it IS a little 'plastic'- sounding. it lacks the harmonic qualities, the 'wood' quality of the real piano (best i can describe it).

i use pianoteq, like it. but it still has a way to go to sound definitive...

The last time I tried Pianoteq, which was a long time ago, I hated it. I just tried it again and I'm frankly stunned at how much better it is. After some messing I ended up with something that sounded almost like it came from Imperfect Samples! I would not have believed that was possible after my initial experience with Pianoteq. Really impressed with the direction they're taking. :tu:

Yes I recently upgraded from v4 to V5.7 pro and was surprised at how much Pianoteq has improved. Whilst I still prefer NI Grandeur Pianoteq is starting to catch up and I feel much more confident to use it in more serious projects.
Really looking forward to seeing what v6 has in store!

The Hohner collection is well worth it, in fact they are all great, the only ones I haven't got are the Bluthner, the new Steinway and the Harpsichord.

The Bluthner and Steinway Model B and the two most popular add-ons.

Got the Kremsegg Historical Collection I + II.

Yeah, I know. But the Yamaha CP300 vibrates when you play on it. Maybe I can input the Pianoteq in the CP300 :hyper:

What kind of projects do you use these for?

It's a pleasure to play pieces of a certain decade with a piano(sound) it was written for.

You can of course use it for everything else with the right fx and mixing but that is not why i bought it.

This might sound a bit cheesy but the Yamaha Contemporary Digital Pianos with the built-in speakers, such as the P-95 and P-255, vibrate similarly to real pianos.
