editing in ableton: simpler not so simple or too simple?

i recently worked with ableton on a whole song for the first time (i u sually work with renoise/redux or bitwig studio) so maybe thats a noob problem.

i used a drum loop sample from one of the officially sound packs from the ableton website in simpler.
i cut it , i worked with it, i even tweaked some knobs here and there and then i heard this pretty much annyoing out of time sound from a cymbal, when listening to the whole arrangement. i put my fav waveeditor in the preferences so that i could open the sample from within the filemanager. BUT, when i view the files the edit buttons are greyed out for the factory contents.

is this just an ableton live intro feature?
how can i edit these files externally in a waveeditor, then save them externally in my own library for further use? i can´t even edit them in simpler (i mean REALLY editing, not only cutting left and right and tweaking a few knobs for sound and then saving it in a different scene. editing parts of the loop, like silencing here and there, changing parts of the loop in loudness or timbre etc). in renoise/redux or even bitwig its simple as f**k to edit loops INSIDE the daw. no external waveeditor necessary.
i can´t even dragdrop these samples from ableton packs into the redux sampler plugin, because of "unknown file format" (guess because its a packed format unpacked in real time only into ableton tools...).

the thing is, i really like ableton live so far and i am about to make a decision to upgrade to standard, but that edit samples workarounds driving me nuts. thats not simpler so far, thats complicatler...

anyone have hints or solutions or else, i would appreciate it a lot!

Record/resample the loop to a new audio channel and edit the new clip externally. There won't be any loop or slice points set but as it's percussion, it shouldn't be much effort for external software to generate new ones.

That's so annoying. One of the reason didn't bother to buy Suite or other downloadable contents by them.
