what does it mean, Eutiu m

utm... ok... and what about the rest?

i'm confused (no, i'm not confused, i'm wopelka, but nevertheless...)
I don't know. If I had to think about what I was doing, I'd never get anything done....

I just tried to match yours... I don't know what's going on in yours either. :D

On to business.
  1. donkey tugger - I don't get the lyrics, but that probably fits in the plans of Icke's reptilic deities to keep us all confused and ignorant. Anyway, great pop tune, with some nice hippie stuff halfway... good stuff
  2. Freeztar - Hm. I both parts are good, but the contrast is too big to have them together in one tune. Stick with one or the other... and I'd say go for the samba part (as much as I like the vocals though)
  3. duncanpersons - I like the composition, but overall it sounds a bit too GMish...
  4. Wopelka - Cool rythm, and the "unorthodox" engrish just adds to the pleasant weirdness of this ditty
  5. mr.me - Nice atmospheric piece, minimal but good sounding. Interesting.
  6. Beardedone - Um. Well. Sounds good & all, just too bad I really can't stand this kind of music :(
  7. Blue Days - Man, this is so loud it crackles... not quite my cup of tea, but sounds good except for the manic compression. A dynamic range of something more than .1dB would be nice... and a decent ending too ;)
  8. farlukar - No it isn't.
  9. fst - "Undoubtedly cheesy as hell". If this is cheesy I'm beginning to doubt my musical taste 'cause I think this is actally pretty cool. Guitar power chords don't quite fit in with the rest soundwise, but otherwise It's A-OK
  10. bastien - Hm. Can't make much of this... a bit monotonous, somewhat dull-sounding until 1:25 where it gets more vivid
  11. RichieBee - Heh - sounds like a 70's police TV series tune. Kewl 8)
  12. Kriminal - A tad monotonous as well, but with this style it's not such a problem... pretty decent piece of elektro overall
  13. SPYRO - Can't say much about this... ending sucks ass, otherwise it's just awesome.
  14. ianweb123 - Good sounds & arrangement. Could be using some more higher frequencies to my taste, but I like it a lot anyway.
  15. EarthTones - Ambivalence alert. Don't know if I should like it because it's lovely 80s camp or hate it because it's 80s kitsch. Damn you. Must give you that it's meticulously authentic synthipop :)
*disclaimer* don't take anything too seriously because I have no taste whatsoever.

Thanks Andreas, this piece just evolved from a few very simple chords. I actually think it sounds like David Foster's Symphony Sessions, with those horns and such.

Freeztar, This is a great song. I love Brazillian and you got it nailed on this one. Rekaxed and flowing. A great groove.

Donkey, I love this song. Great orchestration. Love the cellos and your vocals fit the song perfectly. Shit, if Donkey wins again do we have to have another metEl contest :o

Duncan Parson, Quirky vocals and oddball arrangement. Very Prefab Sprout-ish. I like it.

Mr Me, Nice fusiony mix of sounds. Good tune.

Blue Days, I haven't heard the original, but you give this a real depeche sound and feel. Donkey's vocals fit the mix great. Good tune.

Wopelka Alright, a waltz :!: :!: :!:
Very cabaret sounding. Love it :D

Farlukar Nice little electronica groove. Ambient background sounds fit well in the mix

Richie Bee Alright, everybody up on the dance floor :band: Great little dico dittie.

fst, nice little bit of electro-rock. What did you use for your lead guitar sound? It's got a great sound on the shred solo.

Kriminal, Good bit of electronica. I like that throaty-vocal-morphing lead sound.

Bearded One' You do a great job of capturing a fusion feel and sound with your drums. Great jazz-rock fusion tune.

Bastien, Good electronica, but could use a little more variation, maybe another section.

Spyro, This tune rocks! What a melody. The vocals are truly outstanding. The Spanish rap at the beginning compliments the English lyrics later. Great lyrics at that. This like a modern state-of-the-world song. Truly outstanding.

IanWeb Nice mix of sounds but a bit doomy-gloomy.

Its not like I don't enter quality entries when I enter a competitionor I am some newbie. Jesus.
Dave Spiers wrote:I’m buggering off on holiday on Monday will miss the voting. So, true to form, I’ll probably get my customary annual disqualification. :D

Anyway, just in case Teach is feeling generous and will accept my votes, here’s my top five:

Plunge - Chloe
Catchy and alive with the vibe. Great song, voice and chops.

Spyro - The future of humanity.
Musically right up my street. Remco you’ve got a great voice - a bit like Conrad Lambert but better.

Bastien - Ninety- Four
Dark & lovely.

Beardedone - Jubwha
Nice arrangement. Love some of those piano chords and brass section riffs.

Wopelka - Rain Dance
I like this. It sounds like it should be in a Terry Gilliam movie.

Honourable mentions (ie music I found the time to listen to)

DT - 12 Foot Lizard
Hehehe - ELO indeed. Now I’ll always hear a little bit of Jeff Lynne in your tracks, Sorry though, points deducted for the words "Ivory Tower" (on a par with paradigm I’m afraid)

Freezstar - Beleza
Top escola de samba vibe. Got me in the holiday mood.

Duncan Parsons - The chimp who wasn’t there.
Nice arranging and chops chap. Made me chuckle too.

Mr Me - After Eve
Nice. I especially like the bell intro

Fst - Upturn
Good stuff. The man can certainly play the geeetar.

RichieBee - 50 Second Getaway
Top title & vibe. Nice drum programming

Kriminal - She’s Alive
Competent as ever - not that you need me to tell you that

IanWeb123 - Ceycal
More interesting than 90% of ‘electronica music’ I get sent

EarthTones - Crave it
20 years ago you’d have got signed with this. Tight production & made me grin.

Baggio - Acid country
So NOT my scene that I couldn’t help liking it.

Mystar - SMAshid
More than a little scary.

Andreas E - Sweet Summer Rain
How could I not like this?

Tristea Orange - AerialNova
Been wanting to check out your music for a while and now I’m gonna check out more.

thomasc-dk - free for all
Very interesting with some great progressions. Good vibe too.

jdg - O0O
Very nice.

Barnadine - Heartbeat
Some beautiful bits. Bit trippy in parts too

Marlkeford - Sleekmonth
Excellent. Made me smile a lot.

Erki - Fly
Music to give Vangellis (or Frank Ellis as he’s known here) a run for his money.

Sorry to the others I didn’t get around to checking out. Oh and Sascha’s right, that sambaweb site just crashed my Mac most times so I hardly got to listen to any of those tunes.

See you soon

Dave

So it is a popularity contest? Funny. I thought it was about music....

When people pick and choose who to review first it does take on a different thing. I think all reviews should be banned until the final week and then done chronologically. Otherwise people will skip over perfectly good entries.

I would have thought that people are perfectly entitled to review whatever tracks they want in whatever order they want.. They are under no obligation to review anything and we are in no position to complain if they take 'too long' to review our entries..!!
