Wich program do you used to track this?Omkar wrote:After a lot of trial and error I reverted back to v2.5

Tested today, a project is about 10% in v2.5 and about 55% in v3.3.
Oddly enough,
innocent creatures like D16 Drumazon are causing heavy load in v3.
If some owns v2 and v3 and feels in the mood to compare a song as well,
I`d be eager to know the findings.
Two major software announcements from PreSonus: Notion 6 & Studio One 3.3

I had know idea studio one has been having all these issues. I was just so use to having it being the daw with fast workflow and easy on the cpu. Looks like it's the daw with a great workflow that will your cpu. I hope they don't get a bad reputation like their hardware. In the future I'm thinking of using logic and a new mac computer.

Anyone know if it's possible to burn a CD using a cue sheet in S1 on Mac?

He probably used the included Performance Monitor. But from 10% to 55%, wow, that's alarming... I noticed the CPU increase from 2.6 to 3.0 myself, but it wasn't that big (maybe 10-20%). Anyway, I'm still on V2.Scottex wrote:Wich program do you used to track this?Omkar wrote:After a lot of trial and error I reverted back to v2.5

I do exactly that. And the lowest price for that processor here is not $300, but $400. Add to that the rest of the components... Sorry, but I wouldn't call that affordable.Scottex wrote:If you don't have money then you need to trasform tracks or bounce them. You can get a good and affordable i7-4790k for only 300$, trasform feature and now disable track can make wonder when it comes to save CPU.
No One pointed a big feature when it comes to mixing. Bypass all effect plugin button wich is now in 3.3 I saw a lot of people requesting many times this feature but now they seems don't care that much.
Just send me the $300...

the CPU meter in Studio One is f**ked up, we all know that. Use the Windows Task manager instead...e@rs wrote:He probably used the included Performance Monitor. These days many like to use laptops when producing music and the CPUs on top end laptops are good if the DAW is optimized the way that at least Logic Pro X and Cubase are. With a hybrid engine that runs inactive tracks with a higher buffer.
Of course one can use Studio One on a lap top but one has to start rendering/bouncing tracks way before the other mentioned DAWs. If someone denies that they are fanboys or Presonus employees because it is the truth.
There is a thread on Presonus forum about this and it was closed by a Presonus Quality Assurance Specialist with the words:
"Use a tool that works for you! And more important: Don't use a tool, that doesn't work for you!!!
"
To me this says it all, they don´t listen to customers that complains about performance issues. They just say don´t use Studio One then, walk away cause we don´t want you as a customer if you don´t like our product. That is as low as you can get when it comes to customer service and bad advertisment for Studio One. I could not believe it when I saw that line coming from a Presonus Quality Assurance Specialist.
I´m a long time Cubase user and at a time Cubase got a lot of critic about the CPU performance, Steinberg listen and did something about it. Cubase performance is good now, I think.
I just want to state that I am not in favor for any specific daw. I own and use four differnet DAWs that I like to jump between. It can be refreshing changing DAW for inspirations. Presonus gets used the least because of the bad performance but if they fixed it it would probably be my favorite. Really like the workflow and how everything is laid out. It´s a pity that CPU performance optimization does not appear to be on their agenda and their arrogance against customers that points out this "flaw" is alien for me.
Anyway, I really hope that they will do something about this in the future but for now it doesn´t look as they will.

When Wolgang Kundrun left it spelled the end for Studio One unfortunately. Wether they are unwilling or incapable of fixing it ATM is moot now. They have adopted a defensive stance of if it doesn't work for you then tough. Bizarrely after complaining at S1 inception so strongly about how Steinberg were on their forums, they now have emulated them two fold.
A real shame as it potentially had the chance of blowing the competition out of the water initially.
As an addendum the following was posted by some Presonus employee at the end of a thread on their forums about CPU usage.
"As a wish of the most people here in this thread i'll close it because of trolling. "
I am sure I will be corrected if I am mistaken but AFAIK you have to be a registered S1 owner to post there, so how can you be accused of being a troll if you own the product and are highlighting your concerns. Also do forum members get together privately to lock threads with the aid Presonus, all very sad and frankly pathetic responses to an owner of your product.

It's just software.
Some software works well for some people and some others don't. Every product has people who say they need to do something to "beat the competition" or "rule the world" or take the crown or some other such nonsense that most people don't care about but they all have many, many thousands of happy users and afaict all of the companies are successful businesses making a profit.
I think we take some of this stuff way too seriously.

"this stuff" for most people falls in to 2 categories:LawrenceF wrote: I think we take some of this stuff way too seriously.
1. How you pay for your life.
2. The precious spare time you have leftover from #1 and other obligations.
Both of those things are pretty important to most folks. Time wasted screwing around is a big issue for either category.
There is obviously a 3rd category of people that can just screw around with no repercussions, but they are pretty irrelevant.

I agree Robert. If you don't have spare time to waste on such things you shouldn't be buying things that don't really work well for you yet because that causes you to lose even more time?
In cases like this, that's what demos are for. If the demo demonstrates that cpu efficiency is not up to a standard that is workable or acceptable for you, why waste time trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, unless you just like collecting software.
We all do manage our own time... how it's used or not.
Anyway, if you read the 7 page year old thread there about cpu efficiency you'll see me agreeing with the general idea (and actually defending that perception) that S1 is not as efficient as some others with VI's at low latency. This is very easily demonstrable here for me with things like Reaper. It just is what it is.
A company (being vested sales people) will usually not say this... but I, as just a user / consumer, will and often do. Don't ever buy things that don't do what you need them to do. It just doesn't make any sense.

Back on topic... here's a Control Room external device I created for myself because Studio One doesn't have any kind of Control Room master facilities (another long time FR). I hope someone finds it useful. Read the rtf in the zip.
Speaker switching, talkback, dimming, mono switch, and a user button for switching any other thing.

Often you don't figure out that it doesn't work well for you till you've invested a good bit of time invest in it. OR you decide that it's good enough, and that the developers will do what developers do: develop.LawrenceF wrote:I agree Robert. Either way, I think it's reasonable for folks to be upset in a lot of cases.

Sorry Robert, I don't personally buy that in this particular case.Often you don't figure out that it doesn't work well for you till you've invested a good bit of time invest in it.
Otoh, maybe more to your point, some may have gotten it free with hardware (Artist) and maybe want to use it more and feel that cpu efficiency is a barrier, a different situation.
