Which is the best DAW for someone who lives in two places?

Ohm Studio

I'm a happy Studio One, Windows 10, VST user.

I don't want to drag a laptop round with me, as I have 2 audio spec desktops.

Is there a better DAW than Studio One for running projects between 2 desktop machines.

Currently, one machine is has all my plugs, samples etc

- while the 2nd machine has half my plugs missing.

Is there a DAW where I can keep everything online, so my desktop location doesn't matter?

Any pointers welcome.

Got it during the sale this summer, with MiniMonsta, Oddity, plus all their effects for just a little more than $40

As a sandbox system it works well for me.

Problem with it is that it only allows to load 32 bit VST plugins at this time

Reaper can be installed with its portable option to dropbox/one drive, takes 30MB http://www.osirisguitar.com/install-rea ... r-dropbox/ u can install VSTs also there

Reaper's pretty graceful/regarding missing plugins too, will just warn you and disable the plug. Useful if you're moving projects between the two.

How would you be able to activate your plugins, running everything "online"?

Obvious solution is Reason. It's portable and all projects load perfectly the way you created them, 10 years ago. No missing plugins/samples or any of that nonsense.

But, whether its a real substitute for a proper DAW is upto you to decide. On the merits of portability, I can't imagine it getting better than Reason.

MuLab, it's actually portable. :tu:
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Lots of things to check out.

Could be some good ideas in here.

Thanks a lot

Psycle also, it is very handy being able to carry the DAW on a USB-stick.

Even though it is free, Psycle's tracker interface aint for everybody I guess.

Could some sort of remote desktop app work for this so you can always login to the same desktop no matter where you are? I use VMWare to access my work computer from home (or anywhere, even from my iPad).

If you can forget about your VSTs, then Reason is the obvious choice.

Otherwise it's got to be a cloud-based DAW, like Ohm Studio, because there's no getting around plugin licenses, even if your DAW itself is portable.
