Hey guys I got a UAD-1 and I have 2 PCI slots left on my board. Slot 2 and 3. I checked the mobo manual and it says slot 2 shares irq with my agp card, and slot 3 with my sata drive. I don't know which one I should use, anyone have any tips or ideas as to which one would give me less problems . thanks:)

I'd put move things around and give it (UAD-1) slot 1 . I did this and have my oasys in slot 2 on an Asus board and I have no clicks or pops from either source and the Oasys is pretty significant hardware (full length pci card). Have you disbaled any unused ports in your bios? You can free up IRQs by disabling unused serial, parallel, gameport, midi ports lan , on board audio etc. IRQs are dynamically assigned by the OS (unless you used forced hardware settings which is atypical)

To see the status of IRQ sharing

Look for Programs/Accessories/System Tool/System Information/ and click on the HArdwrea resources + and then click on Conflicts/Sharing (let it update) It will tell you exactly what is shared and what is not. By the way IRQ PCI Steering on the same IRQ as the listed device are NOT conflicts. Shouldn't worry about those double entries. As well some USB controllers use the same IRQ to share 2 or more sets USB of ports; this is normal and is not a conflict.

From my experience IRQ sharing doesn't always result in pops and clicks . On one system I have so much crap stuffed in the box I have to use IRQ sharing on Windoes 98SE with the ATI dual head video card and it doesn't conflict with my OAsys card ( I have two of those).

Hope this is helpful.
