I hope this isn't already done to death, but ....

A set of bare loops sells for one price, usually low.

But once it's put in Kontakt and sold as a concept, we get another higher price for what is basically a one trick pony.

As much as I love Kontakt samples, I've bought more disappointments than I have delights.

I know Kontakt soundware has keyswitches and added-value compared to bare loops.

But I've cooled off a bit for now, as I don't feel I'm getting the value I thought I was getting when I saw the video and bought.

There.

What about you?

Valid rant but I'm going to assume there are many who get good use out of this stuff not to mention most of it is pretty cool. What I can't beleive is how successful the bandwagon has been for so long. There must be a reason for this. I think this this whole Kontakt library thing is much bigger than you and I. :hihi:

Here's an interesting document about the Kontakt instrument business:

As for loops pack in a Kontakt instrument, I don't get it. Sampled sounds and instrument, yes, but music loops? Dropping them in my DAW is much more practical.

There are some pretty cool things you can do with loops in Kontakt. The timestretching and other tools inside of Kontakt aren't slum. It's also pretty fun setting up a bunch of loops inside of Kontakt and triggering them. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Yeah, but you can already do that and much more in most DAW, no? It makes me think about the Audio Modern Kontakt instruments where you have a pre-made construction kit inside an instrument. There's no way I can have more control there than in any full feature DAW (like Fl Studio, Ableton Live or even Reason for that matter). It sounds very good, but I'd rather have the plain wav loops.

Yes, you can do more editing of audio loops in a DAW. The difference between using loops in a DAW and triggering loops in Kontakt, is that in Kontakt it's more a matter of live performance and live manipulation of loops. Not many DAWs can manipulate loops on the fly like you can in a sampler such as Kontakt. Unless one uses Ableton Live of course.

Who buys pure loops for Kontakt? That really makes no sense nowdays.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I don't get it either, but it must have some degree of success judging by Audio Modern current outputs.
