Last month we lost Blue Note recording engineer Rudy van Gelder.
Rudy was as vital a part of the "Blue Note Sound" as the incredible musicians he recorded, and his importance to the legacy of jazz cannot be overstated.

If you listen to or play Jazz,Rudy Van Gelder was one of the most important figures(on the recording side)ALL TIME in the Jazz Universe.
If you ever hear Blue Note,Verve,Impulse recordings etc...... from the 1950's or 1960's you are probably hearing the genius of Mr. Rudy Van Gelder,we are talking about hundreds of Jazz masterpieces. Rudy Van Gelder is more WORLD Renown over the last 60 years than you probably can comprehend, IMHO a DJ doesn't belong in the same conversation...........
Seriously who's going to remember Skrillex in 50 years or think he was a major contributing artist in the history and evolution of music?
"In the fifty plus years that Rudy has been working it is estimated that he has recorded, mixed and mastered over 2000 albums not only for Blue Note and Prestige, but also for Verve Records, Impulse!, CTI Records and many others."
