Hey there,

Sorry, i mentioned this already in another thread but since it seems to be a general problem for me now i´m not sure if i´m doing something wrong.
I´m using a Samsung T3 extern SSD via usb 3. I ran a speed test and it looks like i´m nearly at what Samsung described. About 400MB/write and about 450MB/read.
So far so good but i put most of my bigger sample libraries including the latest Keyscape on this drive.
It loads fast when i open the first instrument within Logic but when i switch to another big instrument it needs minutes to load or will even freeze forever. I must hard reset then.
When i save those instruments as Logic patches it doesn´t have this problem (beside Keyscape) and is nearly as fast as my intern SSD on my macbook pro.
Is there something i might doing wrong. Is the SSD the bottle neck or does EL Capitan not like my extern SSD´s (Samsung T1 and T3).
I have the same issues when i try it in Live 9 Lite and Bitwig 8 track.
:( :( :(

I'd say the bottleneck is the USB, even if it's USB 3. Maybe it's switching to low-power-idle-mode or something.

Thank you!
But i wonder why it loads faster when i open a patch which is saved as Logic patch but not when i open f.e. the plug-in and load the patch there.
But are there any recommended SSD's for sample content. It must be extern. I could use thunderbolt 2 but it's so damn expensive.

MMhhh...it seems indeed that it doesn´t support the uasp protocol. Maybe that´s the problem.
Maybe an enclosure could help?

But normaly it should support it.....damn.....tech.....i give up for now :?

There shouldn't be a USB 3 bottleneck, it can transfer data faster than the SSD....

Try this http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/optimize-d ... al-drives/
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Thx!
I saw now in the system/extensions that the "IOUSBAttachedSCSI" is not loaded. But i think it should be loaded to use the uasp protocol for the best possible speed.
But i don´t know if and how i can enable it. Maybe via the terminal but i would destroy the system for sure since i have no clue what i´m doing :hihi:
OSX can really suck as much as iOS sometimes (at least this is easier to use).

The problem is not the speed, but the fact that USB ports/devices can go to some low power mode when not used.
Something like "Suspend device to conserve power" option - and when next sample is requested, the drive is already sleeping.
Check the power management options - especially for the USB devices.

O.k. Thank's! Will look into it......after trying to recovery my macbook.
People who don't know what they do (like me) should stay with iPads and apps. I can't destroy there the system so easy :D
Time to resell all my plug-ins and turn back to the roots lol.
However, thank you!
