hi, I don't use samples much - but I do have a few choir libraries I've bought plus the one that comes with Kontakt 5.

I've noticed that one I bought seems to sound sort of harsh, like too much in the high range, sets my teeth on edge. I find I have to add in a low pass filter to get it to sound nice.

Is that something that is common? Is it because I'm doing sustained chords?

I probably will need to contact the makers but I wanted to understand if some choirs are like that and you have to EQ them to soften them.

If the library is supposed to be of a choir, it should sound like a choir. No choir I'm aware of sounds harsh (by my definition of "harsh"). I don't know what library you are referring, but I would say there's something wrong.

Harsh? Or shrill? Sometimes those sopranos can be teeth-on-edge putting.

right now it's women alto - it seems to be resonance peaks..it's ringing at certain frequencies I think
