Hey KVRers, shamelessly looking for subscribers for my youtube channel. I am working on a musical chaos generator VST, the project is in its infancy and the promo video is supposed to be a bit mysterious... well... I made the video as a practice and exploration of aesthetic so that the eventual website, gui, and promotional material can have the correct look and feel. I'll probably create more of these as the project develops.

I love those types of visuals! And the sounds are cool too.
Will this be available any time soon?

.....I'm aiming for christmas... but.... I don't know how long these things take to develop because this is my first product. I want a very flexible modulation system, multi-point envelopes, preset-morphing, step sequencer... Controlling the chaos effectively requires smart design. There's no way to know what settings will produce what sound, but if the interface provides the correct features, the user will feel very much in control. Oh, and let's not forget the need for lots of great presets and a good preset system so the user has instant access to the best sounds the plugin has to offer.
Once you start playing with the settings of the chaos generator you can easily get lost and forget your original sonic goal. If you go into the chaos generator with an open mind it will give you organic / textured / complex sounds that would take a bit of time to achieve a standard subtractive synth.

alright, new demo! Simplicity of Chaos.
https://youtu.be/1QBK65k2oiA
The whole "simple" thing is about how the plucky sound you hear is a simple and classic synth sound. "Simple sounds great", refers to how a simple sound can have a lot of character when you use chaos.
Here's the full music (mp3): http://www.elanhickler.com/_/Simplicity ... 0Chaos.mp3
Download it and play in your car, Butterfly chaos generation is naturally stereophonic and I think you will find it sounds really good in a car stereo.
The low synth tone has no processing. The plucky sound has reverb and delay.

new video!: https://youtu.be/XpRVHMf370k
Demonstrating the unique sonic qualities of chaos.
The VST is progressing nicely. We're almost finished testing the core sound generation features. Next step is modulation features (sequencer, multi-point envelopes, x/y, macro controls, LFOs, keytracking, etc.). Also, I am in talks with a great GUI artist.

This looks pretty promising.Architeuthis wrote:new video!: https://youtu.be/XpRVHMf370k

...
Quite the opposite of chaos musically speaking though.
Chaos involving more toward the sound creation then?
Anyway, keep on the great work!

Yes, hmm, Maybe next video I'll use the tagline chaotic tone generator or tonal chaos generator instead of musical chaos generator. I guess "Musical chaos generator" gives the impression that it's a chaotic sequencer rather than a tone generator.nordickvr wrote:This looks pretty promising.Architeuthis wrote:new video!: https://youtu.be/XpRVHMf370k

So yes, this is a synthesizer, not a sequencer!

Indeed. ... "chaotic tone generator or tonal chaos generator", are much clearer, and accurate. Cool stuff.Architeuthis wrote: I guess "Musical chaos generator" gives the impression that it's a chaotic sequencer rather than a tone generator.
