"Rave culture is one of Britain's great cultural exports, but after its first wave in the late 1980s and early 1990s it was forced into the underground by stringent new laws and the rise of licensed super clubs"

"For many of us, the music of video games played more in our households growing up than any other form of music. Over six episodes, Diggin’ In The Carts shines a spotlight on the composers who created a style of music that has had an immense impact on modern pop culture. From the personal studios of these legendary composers, to the concert halls of Japan where symphony orchestras are performing their compositions to sold-out crowds today - the series will document how the music of video games was created, what inspired it, and how it evolved into its own cultural phenomenon. Peppered with commentary from some of modern music’s finest DJs, musicians and electronic producers from around the world, the documentary also shows the influence these Japanese composers had on the world - and the world of music."

I really enjoyed this one:

unfortunately the BBC have seen fit not to release it on disk or through their online store which is a real shame

Not out yet, but looks interesting.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

I hadn't seen this mentioned yet...unless I missed it.
Kraftwerk & the Electronic Revolution
I dont' care for some of the commentary personally, but overall I think it's a fantastic look at the beginnings of Kraftwerk and Krautrock in general.

"Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" - kickass docu/concert film about the band behind the hits. According to the filmakers, The Funk Brothers, the Motown house band played on more #1 hits than the Beatkes and the Stones combined. You get to see Joan Osborne really own "What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted?" and Bootsie Collins have the time of his life doing "Cool Jerk".
I got the DVD and the 2-CD set. On the CDs, the producers have isolated the great James Jamerson's bass on the Four Tops' "Bernadette". Amazing.
