My DAw system is not connected to the net and Also I have the onboard Network card disabled in BIOS because It have an impact in my system performance. So please Andy, don´t force us to have a periphereal attached as a copy protection... It must be unobstrusive...

You will not need to use the network card or be connected to the Internet. Unless the network card is de-soldered or somehow physically removed from your motherboard I believe I can still read its ID, otherwise I won't use this system. I will never use the ID of a network card that isn't built into the motherboard.Bathrobe wrote: That would be ok for me.
I just remember, when i was still working on windows, that i had to turn off the network card, or else dpc latency checker would spike.
And i don´t know if the network card would still report an id when turned off in the device hardware manager.

If there is no way to detect a primary network interface on the motherboard I will just continue using the motherboard ID like I'm doing now.klinik wrote:My DAw system is not connected to the net and Also I have the onboard Network card disabled in BIOS because It have an impact in my system performance. Sounds good to me. 2 auths per year sounds great. The 1 week temp auth idea sounds great also.andy-cytomic wrote:You will not need to use the network card or be connected to the Internet. Ok thanks for the feedback! I've got the initial system in place, I've starting with 3 auths per year and have reset everyone's auth counts. Still using the existing motherboard ID at the moment, will reset everyone's auths again when I switch to the NIC id. The switch in ID and temporary licenses will require plugin updates, so I'll tackle those soon.xiphiuz wrote:Both good ideas Andy. I also like that you have the motherboard-id as a backup if the NIC-id is not available.

The updates are going great! I'm away in Ubud for an Ashtanga yoga workshop with R Sharath Jois till Tues, then back into it. I'm really looking forward to this new release, it's been quite a while since an update and there is loads has been going on that I want to get in everyone's hands.xiphiuz wrote:Thanks for you reply Andy, how far are you at the moment with these updates? Take your time, I know they will be good - as always.

Yoga is not a really healthy spiritual practice, because it yokes you with Hindu 'gods' (fallen beings).andy-cytomic wrote:The updates are going great! The breathing techniques are meant to awaken the kundalini serpent energy, which is extremely dangerous. This is taught nowadays almost everywhere, sometimes openly, sometimes not at all - though most westerners don't really know what they are learning or the real consequences. Even the ones who are deeply into the practices for many years. It's being advertised as "safe", "natural" and for one's "self-development". But in truth, it is not. Because there are so many extensive and in-depth systems, most people do not have an overview of a single one, let alone of the many many different systems and their ultimate purpose.Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a modern style of gymnastic exercises and stretching practiced in combination with yoga breathing and ancient yoga philosophy.

@HunterKiller Ashtanga is great for my mind and body, I program for longs hours which has damaged my right shoulder in particular, and yoga helps immensely. I only mentioned this in passing as the reason I'm away at the moment in answer to someone's question about updates, which is on topic. Your comments are not on topic so please start another thread and post a link to it here if you want to discuss all things "not The Drop" further

I'm not into the old asparagus myself. I don't think it agrees with my body.
In passing, HunterKiller did a nice thing there imho.
As regards this talk of 'auths per year', I'd still prefer iLok. I have hundreds of Plug-ins and it doesn't do the mind any good to have to deal with a multitude of different authorization schemes from one developer to the next after a crash or an update to a new computer
My 2c.

Yeah it would be nice to have everyone using the same system but that just isn't realistic. I doubt Andy wants to pay iLok to use their technology and bloat up the plugin with their code, probably would have to raise the price of the plugins as well..
