Well we don't know which is which. So the hollow one might not be Legend.chk071 wrote:
Edit: Very impressive demos. Only very slight differences in timbre for me, maybe a tiny bit more "hollow" bass on The Legend.

Great newsIngonator wrote:I just talked to Richard (from Synapse Audio) and he allowed that i mention that while the Rack Extension is already available at the Propellerheads shop the VST/AU version will maybe take a few days while he tries to officially release this ASAP. The fastest possible would be between tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday.

You hear the same sequence twicely in each WAV file. The first is always Legend, the second half is hardware.

But yeah its extremely close. You will find bigger differences between different hardware units.
Between Synapse The Legend and Blamsoft eXpanse, Reason has some amazing synths!

Yeah. It would have been quite a bummer for me though, if they had released this RE only. I don't think it's a big deal to develop for both platforms, so people won't feel left out really.
And, you have a broader audience that way too, obviously.

Good business sense too. As you got access to a much bigger set of potential buyers.chk071 wrote:Yeah. It would have been quite a bummer for me though, if they had released this RE only. I listened before reading... in the three I listened to (bootsie, zapp and 3 osc) I preferred A.... sounds more solid in the bass... if that is software I definitely want this.chk071 wrote:Just saw that they offer comparison files between The Legend and a Minimoog Model D too, to be downloaded from this location: http://www.synapse-audio.com/legend/Leg ... rdware.zip
........
And it is a collaboration with Big Tone.....no slouch when it comes to sound....
when I heard the KS demo ... I was....NO!!!!
lets just say I don't know if he is one dimensional but they keep having him doing one dimensional walk thrus, that for me was appropriate for Dune 2 but highly inappropriate for a minimoog emulation.
It's like using Pepper in a creme brulee.

it sounds good , a bit more like a modern analog on some patch but these exemple are tricky..it might be the programing on some exemple i enjoy more 1 for the more clarty, less muddy sound , on some i like more the 2 for the softer attack and rounded smooth sound with more detune drift ,maybe it s the way it s programed ..
also would like to try to see how it handle more extrem patchs
tbh in these example i would not be surprised if 1 is the hardware as it s more snappy , while 2 drift sound almost fake it s very detuned to me , like a chorus ,and it sounds sort of round and muddy, not cutting and clear , maybe it s some caracteristic of the minimoog maybe it drift a lot like this and it s not cutting and clear sound ,don't know much the mini i just know i m not big fan of this synth.
i hope 1 is the soft cause overall i enjoy more the attack and the cleaner detailed sound, if 2 is the soft i will probably not demo

The Kevin Schroder demo might not be the best showcase for The Legend, I agree. But guys, just wait a little more to try the real thing. I think you guys will LOVE it, for sure. It is a lovely synth (sound, gui, ease of use, cpu, etc..) and it really sounds 99.999% like a Model D, if not 100% compared to the particular unit they modelled...Not wasting $3500 on a collector's piece anymore, I prefer the software.

I strongly suspect I will agree with you in a few days.Yorrrrrr wrote:The Kevin Schroder demo might not be the best showcase for The Legend, I agree. I love the sound of Monark for Bass and leads, but for me dealing with snapshots and the Reaktor shell is a very unnecessary pain in the ass.
Really looking forward to demo'ing this.

I don't care really if it can replace a hardware but i just want to test it now on my own. I have a 30 dollar app which can replace 4 Model 15 worth 60000
But we also have smartphones faster than NASA computers in the past. Welcome to the future.
I mean....it just must sound GOOD! I have the feeling it does.
