Excellent! I''m glad to see something new from Synapse - Huge fan of all there work! Hopefully a vsti version will come along soon, maybe a beefed up version like how Dune came from antidote

FWIW, I listened to the demo in the OP and liked what I heard. The filter, IMO, is excellent.
Depending on price, I might spring for a VST version of this. I mean when all is said and done, it's still just a polyphonic Minimoog.

Filters, oscillators, envelopes, effects are all excellent in this synth. I particularly like how Richard went to great detail when modelling the filters, oscillators, envelopes, overall character, nuances, and model revisions (early, late) of the Model D (explained in the beta forums). It behaves really nice, it almost feels real to me...
Between this and Urs's RePro 1 emulation, I think we are ready for some analog emulation goodness this end of the year

No, The Legend has several features not found on the MiniMoog beside polyphony. Just wait and try the demo yourself before you come to any conclusions.....wagtunes wrote:I mean when all is said and done, it's still just a polyphonic Minimoog.

1 is the Legend. It's a killer synth.Synthetic Wav wrote:it sounds good , a bit more like a modern analog on some patch but these exemple are tricky..it might be the programing on some exemple i enjoy more 1 for the more clarty, less muddy sound , on some i like more the 2 for the softer attack and rounded smooth sound with more detune drift ,maybe it s the way it s programed ..
also would like to try to see how it handle more extrem patchs
tbh in these example i would not be surprised if 1 is the hardware as it s more snappy , while 2 drift sound almost fake it s very detuned to me , like a chorus ,and it sounds sort of round and muddy, not cutting and clear , maybe it s some caracteristic of the minimoog maybe it drift a lot like this and it s not cutting and clear sound ,don't know much the mini i just know i m not big fan of this synth.
i hope 1 is the soft cause overall i enjoy more the attack and the cleaner detailed sound, if 2 is the soft i will probably not demo

v1o not sure about this or they have been programed too much differently .
i think 1 is the hardware, what i noticed analog emulation tend to sound more muddy than hardware with not the same attack and punch in the transients , a rounder and less detailed sound.

It was already stated at least 2 times that 1 IS The Legend!Synthetic Wav wrote:v1o not sure about this or they have been programed too much differently .

I think I can hear the (slight) difference but in each case I liked the sound of software a bit more.chk071 wrote:Just saw that they offer comparison files between The Legend and a Minimoog Model D too, to be downloaded from this location: http://www.synapse-audio.com/legend/Leg ... rdware.zip
.
I would pay for an update to Dune bringing it to the same level of sound quality.

yeah but i doubt it or this mini drift a lot...why the software would have a faster attack too ? or they have been progammed too much differently.. anyway if it s 1 it s great and it doesn t sound like monark it seems but at this point it's close.Cinebient wrote:It was already stated at least 2 times that 1 IS The Legend!Synthetic Wav wrote:v1o not sure about this or they have been programed too much differently .

Dune 2 is already my favourite. But i think to bring this stuff to the unison engine of Dune it would eat your CPU since you can use thousand's of OSC's, 8 filters (plus 8 as FX) etc.

Unlike Synapse's previous synths it looks like C/R activation is now required:
After installation, the next step is to provide your license key by using the Activation Tool. On PC/Windows the tool is launched on first plug-in instance insert in your host (UI must be opened). On Mac OS X the tool is launched right after installation is completed.
After typing in the key, you will be asked to activate the license. This is required just once per computer.

FWIW The Legend is not just a "Minimoog like" plugin but intended to sound as close to the real thing as possible while there are a few advanced features (one of those is having full ADSR envelopes, opposing to those in e.g. Monark).
It even has a switch to get two models of the Minimoog (early and late model) and some trimpods in the advanced menu to adjust the sound further.
While it looks slightly different in the VST plugin here is a screenshot of the advanced settings in the RE version (as found at the Propellerheads shop):

More comments from me when the VST/AU plugin is oficially released.

Looks like the Re may be much more flexible but is the sound quality the same as the VSTi?

Only the CV input seem to be additional in the RE version.aMUSEd wrote:Looks like the Re may be much more flexible but is the sound quality the same as the VSTi?
