By the way, I also noticed that while you were stressing that you only used one oscillator, you had set it to 2 waves ;)
You had used pulse, which of course one would have to construct using two oscillators in Sylenth1.
Use whatever you want. You can even use all the effects.
And when I turn off the effects, and it sounds like one ping only, then we know it is the effects that made the sound, and not the synth, which is what I found when using the Spire demo as well.
If it requires two oscillators and extreme sound altering effects, where Hive only requires one oscillator and only minimum use of effects, then Hive is the more capable synth then.

Indeed, that applies to any synth. And it applies to your patch as well. After turning off all effects, reducing the number of waves to one, switching to clean mode, and turning down the volume, the sound was just a shadow of itself...

No you are simply changing the sound.
I said turning off the effects.
Which is not what you did.
You turned off and changed the whole preset.
If you turn off the effects with my sound, you aren't altering it enough to get the one ping only sound that comes from turning off only the effects in Sylenth.
So your idea is unfair, and quite honestly sounds like you are oblivious to the obvious.
Hive kills Sylenth, both sound wise, and with its increased functionalities.
Btw...use anything you want. Doesn't matter.
In fact, I'll switch it to a one oscillator standard wave, with no effects, and create a new sound that can kill anything that Sylenth can do with the same.
I'll do it right now, and post both the preset and recording.

Okay Fluffy.
All of five minutes it took, and now I have the same basses, using no effects, with a normal wave that is available in Sylenth as well.
Sounds almost the same. Can barely tell any difference at all.

That's the patches.
I'll post audio too if needed.

While we're at it, I'd love to cheer everyone up with a little Hive demo by Kevin of Deja Vu sounds:

I still have a few hours before that starts.
Yet maybe you can listen to something while you work.
I call it, "Sounds That Can't Be Replicated Using Sylenth".

Hehe, while working I prefer to listen to 80's music, currently This is not America by David Bowie/Pat Metheny, lovely sounds :)

I really liked the second arp sound. Indeed I'm not sure if Sylenth can do something similar. Other sounds seem to be doable in most subtractive/VA synths, including Sylenth.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

I know, but I am exaggerating for effect.
I thought that was what these this versus that threads were all about.

I've been listening to this, trying to figure out what they used for the various sounds in it.
I think the one instrument is a kazoo, and possibly rubbing glasses together on the percussion thing.
Might be just a vocal for bass.

I'm just going to toss this up here because it's the appropriate place. A guy was asking me for examples of hive in another thread a little while back and I was just playing around with presets and posted it up here for him. These are just presets.
