Yes, it does sound a bit Synapse-ish. Interesting that that's even obvious when they do a specific emulation. :)

Synapse-ish i think is the right word :) I have Junglist, Dune 1 and Dune 2 and they all share some "spice" that its only specific to Synapse synths.

There is an excellent wavetable synth that just came out - eXpanse - that you can throw in with those as well.

I am 100% sure that if you do not use any of the advanced features and/or external FXs it simply sounds like a Minimoog Model D.
And even with the advanced features i could rarely see this sounding close to DUNE 2, except if you program the patches in bot hsynths to do so.

Maybe the built-in Reverb could give a more "Synapse-ish" touch to the sound while it also could be simply "hallcucinating". Sometimes people just hear what they want to hear.

Yes, I think it does in the demo video. There was also a bunch of comparison files (the Legend vs the hardware it emulates) posted on p. 1 of this thread, and there it sounds almost exactly like the HW.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Only the CV input seem to be additional in the RE version.
Yes but that's huge.

But it's quite irrelevant for the VST version. I posted that screenshopt to show the advanced sound tweaking options (as the is no offical screenshot for the VST yet), not the CVs for the RE version, but most replies ignored this so far.

I a no Reason user or expert but without the CV inputs and the audio outputs the plugin seems to be quite unusable within Reason.

If you think the VST version is really "limited" in comparison i do not agree for sure but see yorself when the demo version is out.

Just wondering, but which additional functionality do people expect on the VST version, regarding CV stuff? Isn't there routing limitations, dictated by the VST format itself? I always thought most plugins make the most out of what is possible with a VST, or AU plugin in a compatible host.

And, as Ingo said, a RE without the rack stuff in the back would be kind of pointless, since the point of Reason is that it allows all that stuff, from the internal devices, and the rack extensions. Reason is simply a different beast compared to a VST host.

As mentioned earlier in this thread the VST/AU page is a template and not final. So yes, it lists the specs for Dune 2 and not The Legend.
No, i mean by the sound from youtube demo.
yes I think two things are in play: KS demoing and maybe some of the presets do have a more modern twist on it.... like a pimped out 1970 Mercedes Benz Classic (why oh why)

Yes, i really love the KS patches in Dune2. For me they belong to the best patches in general which comes with a synth.
But i wanted to hear more the cinematic side rather than EDM here.
But i read that it comes with 500 patches?
Looking forward.
I said to me that i just will buy one more plug-in this year. This could be a candidate if it really offers me a lot beyond Dune 2.
Not sure yet.

EDM obviously sells, otherwise they wouldn't do such presentation vids. There are some typical 80ies Moogy sounds in there though. Whatever you think about those. :P

Comparing DUNE 2 to The Legend for me is more like comparing an Apple to a Banana.

Obviously. So for those of us with Reason it may be worth getting the Re rather than the VSTi, providing the sound is the same.

Im not sure a minimoog emu is going to offer you 'a lot beyond Dune 2'

You will get a minimoog emulation, nit an 8 layer synth with all the trimmings.

Two very diff beasts

Thats down to the person doing the video and same old edm sounds. Some ppl like to repeat themselves on every synth.
