it doens t make any sense, what stop you to use a poly like a mono ?

all my fav hardware are mono and i don't really care about poly but all these talks don t make any sense to me, the option to be poly is always better than not having the choice, if it sound bad on some sounds then we won t use it that way for these sounds..for sure it will sound good in some case

Nothing of course, but that's not my Point. I am old enough to have played around and owned many of the original hardware synths when I was a Young boy and I enjoy to see and play with good software emulations of those.

Oh, no, when programmers don't do something we ask from them, that's only because they all are lazy asses and don't listen to the customers. Shame on them for coming up with lame excuses :hihi:

I couldn't even imagine the amount of work needed to properly implement and test the poly mode and how it would delay the release and increase the price, so I perfectly understand why the synth is only mono.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Great post. Hopefully now everyone understands that at least for now, "Repro 1" will be a mono synth, and for those that don't like that concept, then that synth is probably not for you, at least not at this time. There may be something that *is* more to your liking later on.

It's ok, you don't have to *need* every plugin that's released... ;)

i would rather see this synth out as soon as possible, beeing mono, but i can understand some are disapointed .
and maybe beeing mono they can push the quality even higher by using the cpu ressource

Me too.

Option 3, Urs. Definitely option 3! ;)

Option 3 makes the most sense imo. But nice to have another filter on Diva too.

Will the hypothetical Repro-5 authentically have five voices...?

no, because computers crunch numbers by four :D

Lol, I guess we could make an exception in that case. However, the unison mode would have 5 voices then.

Urs wrote:Also, hehe, we have plans to do a poly version. Just not one that is "just a switch".

Maybe again the three options:

Option 1: Add Repro-1 components to Diva

+ nice for Diva users, but might not bring too much to the table
- weird for Repro-1 owners as they might have been happy with just Diva
- would have to align with Diva paradigm, i.e. not original parameter ranges and mod depths

Option 2: Create some sort of Four Voice Synth

+ could be a hub for "collectibles" if we also do Repro-DG, Cat, OB-1, Wasp
+ most powerful concept
- might be a tad geeky since the mono-specific features of Repro-1 would certainly cause issues
- also maybe a bit difficult to program
- concept a bit convoluted atm

Option 3: Create Prophet-5 emu

+ would solve a lot of problems
+ could be included in the Repro-1 package, in a late 2017 update
- wouldn't have all the features of a Pro-One

My current gut feeling: I'd go with Option 3, but also find ways to a add the filter to Diva, most likely in the form of the circuit present in the Synthex.

My other gut feeling: If we do a poly switch in Repro-1, none of the above will make sense anymore. Which is the actual reason we wanted to avoid a poly mode in the first place - too see how it goes and then weight the options.

Option 3.

But don't tell anyone what you are going to do.

Keep the MONO vs POLY debate rolling on in this thread. It draws people in. Makes people angry...PERFECT to draw attention.

But Urs this only works if you do NOT commit to poly until late next year.

So DEFINITELY say nothing definite about what you are going to do.

The plan:

1. Fuel the Mono vs Poly debate but DO NOT COMMIT.

2. Bring out a MONOPHONIC Re-Pro in November.

3. Keep MONO vs POLY debate raging here till late next year when you bring out a POLY Prophet-5 emu. Perfect!

So shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Affirmative - it won't happen before end of 2017. If it happens at all.

People wanting poly, you do realize this is a software synth right ? You can duplicate it as many times as your cpu will handle :D
