OK... That would be the price for non diva customers, and you could make the cheaper price for your "analog collection" supporters... 8)
It was sarcasm, sorry if that wasn't clear. The price for Repro-1 will remain 69$ intro, 99$ final.

Should we decide to bundle a Prophet-5 emu in future, the price will go up a little bit, maybe to $149, maybe more, maybe less, we'll see. We usually make those upgrades cheaper for current owners than for the then-new customers.

As you said, your decision. Good luck.
There ^^ you have your answer. There's nothing to be miffed about. To the contrary, we make Repro-1 cheaper *and* we let existing Repro-1 users save on a whatever poly version we go with.

A future P5 follow-up + upgrade path sounds like a great idea, but keep them as independent synths. Monophonic Pro One. 5 Voice polyphony default on P5.

The price for Zebra 3 was set in stone years ago
But maybe not the best thing since money is less worth today.

LOL, hehehe, hence it's all splattered with "if we do this" or "should we want to"... :clown:

Thing is, I'm just trying to figure out how to react on the inevitable "why not poly" discussions. I'll be prepared for once we release this thing.

I think you should ask Dave. He handled it very well when releasing the mono evolver. I believe his words were "you can do a lot with a mono, and mono's are fun!"

Hey when Re-Pro comes out maybe a group of us can celebrate by getting together burning our worst poly synths in a bonfire!

Oh no hang on that would emit a lot of toxic pollution into the atmosphere. Yeah those awful polysynths are made of a lot of horrible poisonous chemicals...hmm.

Maybe bury them? Nono then they would poison the soil.

Gee I'm not sure what to do with those horrible old toxic polysynths!

Oh what shall we do?

Maybe you should all make a pact not to buy crap synths again

I recommend just not reacting (much)... There is no satisfying the endless desire for more. If you made it polyphonic, would immediately be a request for a mod matrix... etc.

RePro really is exceptional exactly as it is.

Is it just my feeling or did this thread become the "Let's Troll" thread v2  :nutter:

I think that's true but there is a serious side to the 'discussion' here.

Over the last 30+ years we have seen - or heard - the rise and rise of the polysynth sound. I understand the attraction.

A lot of people have never heard the sound of a great monosynth so when they hear one they might think hey that's not how a synth should sound.

Also a lot of the VST monosynth emulations over the last 10 or so years have not been so great. For sure that has left a bad impression with some.

Urs has done this emulation right and it's not an easy thing to do right. It's taken his team over a year of work to do it.

I think a lot of people will be won over when they actually hear it.

Oooh, there's an idea! Can we have a mod matrix please? :hyper: :hihi:

Question: why not Poly?

Answer: Why does every product need to have every feature? Is every EQ improved by a mix knob? M/S and Dual Mono? Do they all need a dynamic EQ section with variable attack/release/threshold? Should they all have saturation? Input/Output gain? Parallel EQ options? 6/12/24/36/48/96db HP/LP filters with resonance? If there's "no reason in software to limit a design" then every product should have every feature imaginable right?

...Or is every product built with some limitations? Instead of reaching for a poly synth and throwing it in monophonic mode, why not start with RePro-1 for those monophonic uses. Then if you need a poly synth, use one. U-he offers many.

Honestly...Monark has been my most used synth since it's release, with Diva #2, and the single note restriction hasn't bothered me one bit. If I want a poly, I load Diva. If I want a bass or lead synth, I start with Monark.
