I still have a few hours before that starts.
Yet maybe you can listen to something while you work.
I call it, "Sounds That Can't Be Replicated Using Sylenth".

Hehe, while working I prefer to listen to 80's music, currently This is not America by David Bowie/Pat Metheny, lovely sounds :)
I've been on a talking heads kick myself. :hihi:
I've been listening to this, trying to figure out what they used for the various sounds in it.
I think the one instrument is a kazoo, and possibly rubbing glasses together on the percussion thing.
Might be just a vocal for bass.

Sounds like they recorded their mouth and everyday items and fed them through a filter of some kind of manipulating software.

Well, It's an mp3 site and I got caught when I went to open the filter and the mod wheel was already open, but people seem to appreciate it. The point of it was the brassiness of it. I just LOVE how it can go brassy on you. Like fuzzy, dreamy brassyiness. Sounds like a.... ray of sunshine. I've kind of adopted that sound.

The first thing I noticed about Hive though was it has a big bottom. It's bass will SHOCK you at times. A real GROOOOOWWWWWL to it. Like a dragon.

All of five minutes it took, and now I have the same basses, using no effects, with a normal wave that is available in Sylenth as well.
Sounds almost the same. Can barely tell any difference at all.

That's the patches.
I'll post audio too if needed.
Will check it in the evening, have to finish work first :P
Strange, I have tried to download that file repeatedly now, but nothing ever happens... 8)

Just got off of work.
I can't download it either. But if I log on it does download. Just a box glitch.
I deleted that and uploaded it again.

I also attached it to this post now.

I did this tune all using Hive.
My timing is a bit off though.
I tried, but I'm not really a keyboard player or daw jockey.

Hell yeah buddy. What the edm kids don't understand is that perfection is an illusion. It's not music if the computer does it and you only gain by confronting your flaws, facing them, and overcoming them. It's about what's real. Humans make music and humans are flawed. I like it. :tu:

Is this 100% Hive? If it is, just wow! Didn't know Hive could do that!

Neither did we, that's why we think Hive's focus needs to change.

+1 it is impressive really and love this example  , especially it is this, my favourite genre to make music in 8)

I know Hive can do that, in fact, I guess the same author could do that with Diva or Dune 2 or ... Maybe the result would be little bit different because of the character of the synth, but I can bet that the final feel would be similar. Anyway, it is the skill/talent of the author that show how good is that synth or that IMO.

The dangerous question is, do we need one synth (like Hive, Dune2, ..etc) for our music? I don't know, maybe yes after all, what we need maybe is the more skills than synths ;)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Post

Well, people have always used multiple synths. Limiting yourself to one synth can be a great thing, it can be a deciding point for a composition. But then you can limit yourself to another synth for another project.

That track by Kevin is effing great, indeed :tu:
