I am looking for a simple application that can reroute midi keys. Basicly i want to create custom set for my digital midi drums but where i reassign them to creat custom sets with ethnic drums like congas, cowbell, bongo etc. I use hardware GM sets, but any suggestion with software drums like VSTI is also interesting.
One would think such a program reassigning the pad should exist, i bought a cheap digital drum set, and it is possible i can reprogram the keys, but then you will have to change back and forth it would be so much easier using midi thru to module or any software GM set like soundfonts, and basicly swap the notes that are sent out by loading a midi set file.
But is there such a program, where you can make a set of notes that is remapped on the fly?
I bought the cheapest DD set i could find DD400 i don't know much about drums but it is very responsive no latency issues, the sounds are desent but my old Roland SC-7 swings even better.

If there any midi programmer out there i know exactly how it should be done. It register when you hit a pad, save the note value create a drop list that you can scroll with sounding "midi thru" you stop at a key and when hit next pad swap is saved and you chose again from the drop list... repeat until all pads done under the window a save button where you can save set.
Of course you could invoke also different programs holding different GM sets or XG.
But a simple note swap would be enough to easily change set, but maybe it is harder then it seem because it somehow need to change the note before it reach any sequenser if you want to record the set live.

I did a search and found something that is called Roland SPD-S that seem to work the same way but it is a sampler.
This is same principle but using your digital pads you reassign the notes PADS / SET no need to sample, you can have it to trigger a module or anykind of softwaresynth that is aware of midi notes.
And the scrolldown list that sound as you scroll and change do it very managable when you only have to trigger next pad to save it, and when all pads done you save the configuration set. MIDICHANNEL "PROBABLY 10 if GM", PROGRAM "drumset" and the swapped "reassigned notes".
But it probably have to be very machine close and work upon the midicontrol hardware you use for your pads and somehow intercept the midi message before it reach any program?
