You are right, tatanka, the Windows version was re-uploaded without the fix. Sorry about that.
The crash occurred in new code when the user had no GM soundfont installed, which most users don't have. I did so I never realized this.
You can download the working Windows x64 version now. The 32-bit version is being uploaded.
I hope everything will be fine.

midi-to-phrase import is great

Just an additional question, have not come so deep until now so I am just wondering if there is a way to "convert" a phrase (imported from midi) to a Phrase-generator or "generate" a phrase-generator from a (melody)phrase ?

And if not is there at least any way to "make" a phrase-generator or do I have to use the delivered generators and adept them like phrases ?

That checkbox was removed

Some sort of structure is always created based on the number of lines/part and bars/line setting. If you need one very long line you could set bars/line to a big number.
Please let me know if 32 bars per line is enough, or more should be allowed.
I could fix this before uploading the new beta version tomorrow (on Sunday).

not always but sometimes i need to import one channel long midi files to examine
or grab the scale & progression from it ...
so i tihnk would be useful to have 128 bars to define while import.

New beta version available: v3.1b16!

3.1Beta16 changes:

[Windows] RapidComposerV3 folder is moved to /Users/<name>/Documents. All files from the old AppData folder are seamlessly moved to the new location.
Snap option added in "Rotate Notes" variation
"Rescan Midi Devices" button under Settings / MIDI
The maximum number of "bars per line" and "lines par part" is 999
Fixed: hanging notes when using overlapping notes in VST tracks
Fixed: MIDI Import: track list does not jump to the top of the list every time a bottom item is accessed
Fixed: rare 'muted notes' issue fixed in midi sequencer
