Is this a free or paid upgrade?thetechnobear wrote:update released with x-fade and x-pan modules, and bug fixes.
(kinda of ridiculous its a 1.5 GB download on the mac, for 2 new modules... especially since they have a 'control centre' type application!)

Yeah this 1543 MB installer business is MENTAL.
You HAVE to be f**king kidding me.
I download ALL of their plugins to install ONE UPDATE!!!?? OF ONE FORMAT!!!????
yeah man, at least for an installer that big, it should be a ONE TIME AFFAIR.
Then be able to update from the giant monstrosity of a thing.
My god, these people must be working so hard their awareness has become 2 dimensional.
NUTS!!!!!!
P.S. in the "Known Issues" now… "Mac: VST presets won't work in Ableton Live (64-bit version)"
Does this mean NO saving or recalling patches in Modular whatsoever now!??
damn, these dudes code some mean gear, but they must be smoking some heavy shit.

ok, got an email bach from support, very quickly too…

This is David at the Softube Support. Thanks for reaching out!
We fully agree! That's why we are currently working on a completely new system for our installers which should make the whole installation process a lot more smooth and less painful
Thanks for your patience and support!

Very cool update modules. Crossfading an original wave with the same wave folded and controlled via CV is nice. Also crossfading CV for modulation. Love the CV control over panning now as well.
I wish they'd make a quantizer module though with a trigger a la Doepfer's. Would be nice for more self-generative patches.

You should try to download the whole package with a download manager like flashget.. You can pause the download and if your DAW is not connected to internet you can run it while you're making musicsqigls wrote:Yeah this 1543 MB installer business is MENTAL.

I did complain about the size/upgrade process on their facebook page, and they also replied there saying they were aware , and they are working on a solution.

About the new modules:
-I think you can get the identical functionality simply by using two vca:s. (Splitting the inputs to two vcas, controlling first vca with original cv and second vca with inverted cv and then mixing signals again etc.)
-I think the new modules are easier to use/make than above patch, but the functionality is identical.
Is there something I do not understand about these new modules here?

Less modules to add, setup, less wiring, less mults and you have LEDs on the new modules to show which item is active.DARTelectronicMUSIC wrote:About the new modules:

Basically, easier to setup, read and use. But yeah, you can do the same previously.

So they still haven't fixed the problem with Ableton crashing, judging by the response I got Softube are at fault

A large portion of modular is just modules that take complicated patches and stuff them into one module that's basically a perfectly set up patch with a more intuitive interface. There is a lot to be said for modules that combine a 2 or 4 or 6 module patch into one easy to use unit. Admittedly somewhat less so with a software modular like this one, but still, the easier something is to do the more likely you are to do it, and the more likely you are to find interesting ways to use the functionality in patches that would otherwise be overwhelmingly complicated.DARTelectronicMUSIC wrote:About the new modules:

Even many famous hardware modules are like this, for example the Mangrove is a trendy oscillator lately, and you can get quite close to the same functionality by a particular patch arrangement of oscillator, VCS-style module, VCA, etc, but nonetheless having the specific setup in one module makes a big difference.

I"m assuming you're talking about Live on Win 10. If so, run it in Win 8 compatibility mode and it's fine.VariKusBrainZ wrote:So they still haven't fixed the problem with Ableton crashing, judging by the response I got Softube are at fault

Yes, I was pointing out it still hadn't been fixed, whjch is wierd as it only seems to relate to one of the module dllsImNotDedYet wrote:I"m assuming you're talking about Live on Win 10. This has been fixed a while ago. It is possible it will not work after simply updating Modular, in that case you need to uninstall and then re-install it. That worked for me.VariKusBrainZ wrote:So they still haven't fixed the problem with Ableton crashing, judging by the response I got Softube are at fault
