lets say i wrote a track with a certain chord structure and within a certain key
let's say i used diminished and augmented and major and minor chords
is there software out there that can translate the chords in let's say all minor or all major
simply by looking at the root notes.

another question, if i translated a wave file in to midi via digital ear or akov or noteworthy composer or another wave2 midi tool
and i filtered overtones but yet i get artificial by notes - what would be the quickest way to filter out dissonants and doubles ?
is there a miditool which could do this quickly and accurately ? I'm trying to save some time in rewriting a certain track
i could edit all the notes but this would take up as much time as rewriting the score which is just another possibility
my fruity loops does offer tons of score writing features but the score editing features compared to let's say cubase are limited
i know it`s possible to delete doubles in a score since the old cubase 2.0 for atari st1040
i also know cubase has features to change overall key withing a certain timeframe
it probably has features to rewrite chordstructures and it possibly even has feautures to delete disconantants

but i don`t have cubase :)
any donationware / addware / cardware / shareware / freeware /welfare :D ...... sugestions ?

I don't think there is a way for a program to know what the root note of a chord is. A c major chord could have the c in any position in the chord. It doesn't have to be the lowesr note. You could even leave out the c and the chord could still funtion as a c chord.

It's all about context. such a program would need an incredible amout of artificial intelligence to do this.

thanks for answering
get your point

but erm - i guess the simple question would be : what would be the quickest way to remove doubles / unwanted / dissonants notes
after wave2midi conversion, taking in account some notes could be intended to be dissonating - i don't mind if they get removed as well

now perhaps this would be more easy to program

could be a cool feature for donkeytugger when he does a collab with someone who sends in far-fetched chords
just click on dejazz and the dissonants will be removed :)

If you use FL you can ctrl-click on a piano-roll note (from those on the left) to select the whole line. Then just click the b3 and b7 and up it 1/2 T for moving all minor chords to major, just take care of the dims, and vice versa. Not sure if the trick will do for you but it's really quick.
