Hi all,
I have a Focusrite 18i8, Access Virus Sow and Cubase 8 LE running in windows 10. I have all four Virus USB channels working in Cubase but I can only record Audio from Midi Channel 1/USB Audio 1 and Midi Channel 4/Audio in from my 18i8. Midi Channels 2/3 and USB Audio 2/3 can be played and heard but I just can not work out how to get the USB Audio to show so I can record it. Is it not possible in the LE version? I can do it in Live 9 but really want to do it in Cubase too.
Many thanks,
Glyn.

USB streams the audio back into the Virus Control plugin, there shouldn't be a separate audio channel. At least there are none in Studio One. You treat Virus Control as a multitembral VSTi plugin and if you need to record audio you freeze or bounce the plugin channel(s).
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Thanks for that mate, but in my Live 9 I have it setup as the Virus sow, sorry Snow VST with a seperate Audio then successive Midi/Audio channels so that all four Audio inputs can be recorded on seperate channels at the same time if you want to.recursive one wrote:USB streams the audio back into the Virus Control plugin, there shouldn't be a separate audio channel. The trouble is Live does not send midi clock at stop so my other external gear does not function properly unless the project is running but Cubase does transmit while at stop. It would be great if I could set it up the same as this in Cubase.
Cheers,
Glyn.

You don't want to record your Virus via analog outputs, right? So you are using the audio which Virus Control plugin sends to host. It is able so send 3 separate stereo outputs. How to set up in a multi-timbral plugin depends on your host, I'm a Studio One user so I don't know how to set it up in Cubase or Ableton, I can only tell you what you should google, namely: "Virus Ti multi output" and "Cubase multi timbral VSTi". Hope that helps.
For the record, I never use my Snow as a multi output VSTi. 3 outputs is a joke anyway. I load an instance of the plugin, write a MIDI part then freeze it, load another instance, freeze it, rinse and repeat

If the Virus is presented in Cubase as a multi-timbral/multi-out plugin then Cubase LE 8 should be able to handle it.
Add the plugin as an instrument track, this will give you MIDI channel 1 and the first audio out. Access the track's audio output menu from the track inspector and activate any additional outputs you need.
Next add a MIDI track for each of the additional MIDI channels you want to use and for each set the MIDI destination (the instrument track containing the plugin) and the required channel.
Here's an example using the built-in Halion Sonic SE plugin.

The last LE version of Cubase i used was Cubase LE 5, and that one only had instrument tracks, so the tracks were 1 output only, back then. Not sure how it is in the latest versions though, because, fortunately, Steinberg got rid of the distinction between instrument tracks, and the other tracks, can't remember the name now, the ones which always featured multiple outputs.
