Hopefully The Legend is not an accurate emulation in that regard, otherwise the electricty bill could get bigUrs wrote:You switch the Oscs off but you can still keep the heaters turned down a notch.

What are you running a Pentium 4 ? On this computer which is my internet machine, a Core 2 Duo E8500 running at 3.16 GHz I get 3% with a five note chord with everything switched off (Win 10 64 bit, Reaper 4.78).fluffy_little_something wrote: It's odd when you switch everything off and play a chord and the CPU meter shoots to 50+ percent without there being any sound

With unison patches like that Festival Chord KS factory patch one note already leads to a 55% CPU load on this computer

The Legend idle in FL Studio 12, gives a CPU hit of 11% on my laptop
Playing a three finger chord of Cinematic Strings KS brings the CPU hit up to 17%

That patch is horrible for my CPU, three notes and I take the 80% hurdleNumanoid wrote:The Legend idle in FL Studio 12, gives a CPU hit of 11% on my laptop

Seems it has to do with the effect section because when I turn that off, the load drops quite a bit.

Maybe you should upgrade from the Commodore 64.......fluffy_little_something wrote: Hehe

(Festival Chord KS one note runs at 7.1 % on this old system. I'll measure on the studio computer next time I boot it)

In FL 12 on this old system it shows 0% with Legend idle. Do you have more than one instance loaded or any effects loaded ? Which patch ?Numanoid wrote:The Legend idle in FL Studio 12, gives a CPU hit of 11% on my laptop

Well, HrastProgrammer isn't a self-proclaimed expert, but he did code an extremely tweaky and crazy powerful synth (with a bit cryptic interface, but it's built with touchscreens in mind)...AnX wrote:You'd think the self proclaimed experts at these forums would know the difference.EvilDragon wrote:So what's up with this amount of aliasing?

And it sounds extremely clean, that it does. So he might be sensitive to those kinds of things, y'know.

Or more likely he's someone who uses a scope before using his ears and jumped to a conclusion a bit too quickly.

OK, let it be. I can, perhaps, accept all those harmonics are from "power supply emulation", although I don't have a MiniMoog and cannot either confirm or deny this is the case on the real synthesizer, or confirm those harmonics really look like that on the real synthesizer. I never noticed anything like that on any analog synthesizer I owned, this is for sure. For example, none of that on Alesis Andromeda I just checked. But if the developers say this is the case on the real MiniMoog then this is true, of course.
I have some more questions in this regard:
(1) If the power supply effects are emulated why there are no fixed 50/60Hz (and possibly some 100/120Hz etc.) harmonics there? OK, there are some on my Legend_Square spectrum but there are none on saw/pulse and if I, for example, play C8 on square there are none as well. This is a little strange because on all hardware synthesizers I ever recorded there is some 50/60Hz and similar garbage, depending on the quality of power supply. I don't say this garbage should be emulated because it is useless - I am just curious why there are no 50/60Hz peaks here.
(2) How come that there are no such harmonics on the resonance alone? I just made a simple resonance sweep and it is clean as I would expect, no tons of "power supply harmonics" here. So, on the real MiniMoog power supply affects oscillators only? Just curious again.
To those "he didn't use his ears" kind of "experts": I can "use my ears" only if I can compare the sound with and without a particular effect. Without that it is just nonsense! Without "Power Supply Emulation" on/off button I can "use my ears" to do what?!? To say this synth sounds good? I didn't say it doesn't, I just wondered what are all those additional harmonics ...

Shame or not, I still don't know what "alias is or isn't" in this case. As it is not possible to turn all this "harmonic forest" off, all I have is a claim from the developer that those are "not aliasing" but "power supply emulation harmonics".AnX wrote:Shame he didnt know what aliasing is or isnt in this case.
If I don't unconditionally believe in this then I am "self proclaimed expert", "man without ears", etc. LOL, no problem, big deal, it would mean something only if those comments came from someone I consider relevant ...

It emulates the interference from the power supply?! Does it occasionally go silent as well, in order to emulate my power outages?

As i have no idea who you are, your 'comments' are not relevant to me either, so no love lost there. The 'problem' you found has been explained by the developer. Im happy with that, having also compared Legend to several of my hardware units.HrastProgrammer wrote:Shame or not, I still don't know what "alias is or isn't" in this case.
