"I had a chat with a developer just a little bit ago confirming this (the developer will remain nameless, to spare them backlash). The guy was so exasperated, he fell back in his chair and said "Even free wouldn't be cheap enough for them. It's like they want us to pay them to use our software."
That response sounds rather extreme and clearly wrong. It is also rather disrespectful towards your existing clients and potential clients. It suggests they are incapable of determining value, a process that consumers especially in a fairly niche creative/technical market pride themselves on.
When you come to market with a new product you have everything to prove, that takes some time.

I do think that is a big of an exaggeration on his part. I have spent quite a lot of money on synths. In fact, here are my expenses for the last 4 yearsSynthman2000 wrote:"I had a chat with a developer just a little bit ago confirming this (the developer will remain nameless, to spare them backlash). 2013 - $7,968
2014 - $3,984
2015 - $2,405
2016 - $1,077
My expenses have been decreasing significantly because there's simply not much left for me to get. I think I bought every major synth release this year and still just about cracked $1,000.
Point is, there are a lot of people out there willing to spend a lot of money on a product if it's good.
You might want to return to this developer and tell him that somebody who was almost certain to purchase this is not so excited about it now because of his attitude. If that's how he feels, how much work is he going to put into this? Doesn't instill confidence in this buyer.

I think it was irony, and I agree to a certain extent. That's also the reason why there is so much pirating, people think software is not physical, thus has no value.
Anyway, judging from page one the GUI looks a bit old and ugly, not to mention the zillions of tabs and panels, I don't think I would want to use that thing, no matter what it sounds like...

Good job on labeling KVR and KVR community as warez users while presenting your synth.parawave wrote:I know right? KVR seems to love Serialz.Jorgeelalto wrote:Serial? Great! Let's see the price, and that wavetable sound...
Standing ovation.
Go develop your butt ugly synth and leave PR job to someone else who doesn't suck balls at it or you'll cause gigantic shit storm if you keep on writing here which you won't be able to stop.

Um, i think it was merely a "cool" way of writing "serial", not really an attempt to accuse anyone of using warez here.brainzistor wrote:Good job on labeling KVR and KVR community as warez users while presenting your synth.parawave wrote:I know right? I don't quite get why the OP chose to ask for a price tag here though. He should know that that will primarily attract the cheapskates to invade this thread with their ridiculous price perceptions.

How much does a certain product costs and how much are ppl willing to pay for it are 2 different things. Very different. Even if that said product is priced right - heck, even ad rock bottom lvl. Makes very little sense to the average buyer. Ppl are not paying the price tag because it's "right", but because it feels like they're getting a deal for the money - what kind of deal, depends on every person (and a 100 personal reasons): to some 100$ is ok, to others 5$ is too much.chk071 wrote:I don't quite get why the OP chose to ask for a price tag here though. Yes. Hence the company doing the product should think about what they consider the "right" price. They could release it as freeware too. But then, maybe they want to make a living with what they're doing.
IMO, it would be pretty idiotic not to orientate on competing products, which seem to be fairly popular, but to orientate on opinions of cheapskates, who think they can shoot a bargain, because the company is unheard of until now.

I didn't realize it was the OP/dev that had posted it.
Such comments will for sure win a lot of friends here

So everything which ends with "Z" is automatically considered warez?
Well, good to know, back to my ViruZ.

I see nothing wrong in developer asking for what people think the price should be. It could give them some interesting feedback on how the plugin is perceived.
It's obvious that there are certain costs involved in plugin development, distribution and support. These cost have to be earned back and there's several way to do it. One can set the price high and on the level with direct competition and hope to sell enough copies. Or one can set the price very low and sell tons of copies. Both ways can earn the costs back. So asking people what they think the price should be could help to strike a balance between the two.

Geez, just a reminder I wrote this really short sentence:
"I don't know. Maybe you could come up with a price tag?"
Next time I will definitely use a wink smiley. It was just a small call to guess the price based on presentation, as the end price is still TBA. Not meant as philosophical discussion starter about pricing shemes. I never claimed that your guesses would be used as main decision-making data. The price range was fixed as development started. The TBA is a placeholder so people can evaluate the presentation without bothering about future investions. As I see know, the opposite happened. I guess chaos theory in perfection.
For the people who critize the GUI. Yes, maybe it's not state of the art, I know that. But it is sharp, well sorted and especially functional. A thing that other companies often forget. It's also very easy to introduce new modules in coming updates, a thing that all major 3D-prerender synth GUIs don't offer.
The Serialz thing from the last post is just silly
Again. A 'z' ...
Small thing, big twist of original intention.
But it's ok. I'm not even mad ;D
Where are the feature questions? Thought people here would be more interested in real values.
Ok, a new game: Here are the currently avaiblable effect slots. Guess the functionality.

Iz the GUI made by someone working at Image-Line? Kind of reminds me some of the Image-Line synth GUI's.
