on behalf of the people who got so excited since they've learned about Avenger, I disagree with something has been said at the end of the drums video: "that's enough for now..." IT'S NOT

Indeed. I think elicenser is a given by the sounds of things, but some companies allow the use of the soft elicenser, and more than one activation. That way you can permanently have the product on a main rig and a laptop, without having to use a dongle.chk071 wrote:Two activations?

Oh, i didn't know that. I thought it was always limited to one soft eLicenser activation.noiseboyuk wrote:Indeed. VSL offer 3 activations for their VE Pro software (and actually that can be dongles). That might be special case mind, as its for use with multiple computers. Still, there's nothing remarkable about the concept, as its routinely used in soft activations - anything by NI, Spectrasonics etc etc. In general the paradigm seems to be dongles=1 license, soft licenses = multiple licenses.
Anyway, don't want to thread derail, it was an idle thought - suggest someone starts a new soft licenser thread rather than roll this on here - too many interesting things to discuss while we wait for official word on the CP.

Also Soundtoys on iLok: one can activate 2 soft licenses, 2 dongles or 1 soft & 1 dongle.EnGee wrote: I don't know of any company is giving two activations. Can you name them please?

UVI and VSL give us three activations (Syncrosoft dongle protected). And NI allows even more than that. Arturia allows up to five. Cakewalk has no limit, AFAIK. And IK Multimedia allows up to ten. Anyway, kudos to ReFX to allow two activationssircuit wrote:Also Soundtoys on iLok: one can activate 2 soft licenses, 2 dongles or 1 soft & 1 dongle.EnGee wrote: I don't know of any company is giving two activations. Guys I mean software e-licenser!
Personally, I had very bad experience with software e-licenser since Steinberg changed few years ago from multiple activations to just one activation (that exactly happened when I upgraded my Cubase Element 6 to 7 and later to 8 ). Then started the problems with Steinberg products especially Retrologue and Padshop pro.
So, I had two choices, either delete all Steinberg's products and forget about them, or take the risk and buy a USB e-licenser. I chose the later and to my surprise everything was/is working perfectly since I moved all the licenses to the dongle. That made me upgrade to Cubase Artist 8.5 (and soon I hope to Pro).
The very positive experience with USB e-licenser made the Avenger in my to buy list (the beta is running great with me in Windows 10, not a single problem with stability). All the USB dongle protected software that I have are rock solid.
To be honest, I wouldn't even think of Avenger if it was iLok or if I don't have the USB e-lisenser dongle.
Anyway, time will tell.

The drum arranger is quite impressive but I don't understand why it is limited to samples. If this is a full featured synth, why can't the drum sounds be completely synthesized?
I'm having trouble telling if it can do more analogish sounds. The demos are so EDM oriented.
I don't mind iLok but I'm not excited about yet another form of copy protection.
The GUI looks great BTW. I'll be keeping an eye on this.
