Any way to convert I-map to GM?

What I usually do is record a drum sequence and then as the song developes I audition different kits until I find the one that works best with the song.
Problem is that if I sequence the drum track using GM I can't use an I-map kit without re-sequencing or manually changing each note in the sequence to correspond to I-map.
There's nothing worse than creating a great sequence using GM and then realizing that the perfect kit for the song is an I-map kit.
Squids, is there something you can develope that would allow a GM kit to convert to I-map or vice versa?
Thanks,
Marc

I'd like some guidance in this also. I've never really conqured the Cubase drum map process all that successfully. And not being a keyboardist, I'm afraid Squid's chops are out of reach for this lifetime at least.
I understand (actually I don't but I'll pretend I do
) that I-Map has a lot more variations than the GM - snare hits, rolls etc. But it would be a great help if there was a way to "distill" the basic GM notes from I-Map as well as the other way around.

Which library are you talking about? Studio Drums Capsule has an update that allows both I-Map and GM map drums. Acoustic Drums also has an update for that too coming (although you have to have ST2 to be able to use it). We may do an update on the Reality Drums refill as well. Which do you have?

Oh, now that's good news. I have ST2 XL and the Sonic Reality Everything bundle.
That's great because although I love your drums I hadn't planned on buying any in the future if the only mapping were I-map.
I will buy any drums that you release as long as they also include the GM mapping.
Thanks,
Marc

I work in Pro Tools. When I'm programming drums, I have each drum on a separate track, and the track "height" set to single notes. This way, all the drum tracks end up looking like a drum grid, which is the way I like to work.
I copied my GM Kick track by selecting all notes, copy/paste (or CMD-ALT-drag). Then if you go back to the track height selection and look at the Single Note setting, it will have two note values to choose from. The one it was set to (with a check mark beside it), and the one you just pasted.
In this case you might have C2 with a check mark beside it and C1 listed. Then select all notes, pop up the MIDI Transpose window, type in From: C1 To: C2 and that track is done.
If you click "APPLY" instead of hitting <ENTER>, the MIDI Transpose window will stay open, and you can quickly do the other tracks.
It's a big of a drag, but goes fairly quickly once you've got the swing of it.
I set up a Pro Tools template with 35 MIDI tracks corresponding to the I-Map layout. I can then just import that into the session I'm working on.
Although, I'll likely just start with the I-Map layout now.

Any idea when the this patch will be forthcoming? And will it be a free download or what?
