A truly capable sfz sampler

VST, AU, AAX, CLAP, etc. Plugin Virtual Instruments Discussion

Post

I have amassed quite a nice collection of Drumdrops samples and I'm using Sforzando to trigger them.

Sforzando works fine for me, but I'm missing a multi-out option, TBH.

Is there an SFZ sampler that has this option (Aria player has this, but you can only get it if you buy something like Garritan, right)?

There's Shortcircuit, if you run 32 bit style---

I should have mentioned TX16Wx. I actually have a Pro license and I have used it, but it really "chokes" when burdened with a lot of samples (as is the case with drum libraries).

Shortcircuit introduces noise, which is kinda unappealing. That kills it for me. I may give it a second chance, but as far as I remember, it wasn't really impressive in terms of performance (maybe I'm mistaken, will give it a second go).

OK not really used the TX one but thought it fitted your requirements. I suspect the only other option is to go for something more expensive like UVI Falcon which is probably better optimised for large sample sets.

shortcircuit has a lowest/default initial attack 0.001 (or 0.0009xx something i remember) which is not good for drum 'n percussion sounds :)

You could use multiple instances, of course.

That is exactly what I am doing. :)

Well, it could help saying what DAW you are using....

because several months ago I stopped using Addictive Drums (I used it for years) and started building my own drum libraries for FPC, FL Studio plugin.
https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHe ... ns/FPC.htm

FPC is godlike when it comes to this thing because it practically works as Addictive Drums (and other similar drums based VSTi's) but you are able to build your drum kits in a really easy and fast way.

Image

As you can see on the picture it has pads, you select a pad and then from FL's browser start dragging samples onto it and it starts adding velocity layers automatically. You can just click on "Spread even" and it will automatically adjust velocities equally. But, you want to adjust velocities of samples manually and it's easy by dragging velocity ranges, adjusting them (blue lines on the picture).
You have ADSR envelope for each pad, you can set outputs to mixer tracks however you want, it has round robin option, you can adjust pad to any key you want, you can set groups so that for example closed hihat cuts open hihat.

The best way is to create one folder then make separate folders for kickdrum, hihat, snare, cymbals, toms, etc. Then in those folders to create separate folders for samples (Yamaha snare, Pearl snare, Tama snare, etc)

Then you start FPC, open "Empty" preset, navigate to your samples in FL Studio browser and start dragging, for example, Yamaha snare samples into one pad (not onto pad directly, but where samples are in FPC, next to pads). Then adjust velocity layers, click on round robin (top right corner on the picture, circle) you save that individual pad and name it "Yamaha snare". You keep repeating this process for all drum parts. When you are done, THEN load pads one by one and create your drum kit and save the whole drum kit as preset.

This way you'll create your drum library just like you have it in Addictive Drums (or other drum VSTi's), you'll be able to load different snares, kickdrums, hihats, etc. and build custom drum kits with everything already adjusted (velocities, round robin, etc).

FPC can export drum kits as SFZ file. Didn't try it because I didn't need it. FPC is not a standalone plugin, it's part of FL Studio. So if you are using other DAW maybe you could download a demo of FL Studio and try will FPC export SFZ file, idk does it work in a demo version.

In the upcoming patch FPC's UI will be vectorized which means it could be stretched across the screen and things from "oh yeah" went to "f..k yeah".

PS
Pozdrav :D

I'm using REAPER, so, AFAIK, no FPC for me. :)

Edit:

Pozdrav! :)

Reaper's ReaSamplOmatic 5000 ? I've never used it but I know Reaper's routing is very flexible. :)

If not is Linplug's RM V still on sale for $20 ? Would be perfect for your needs.......

Is it now free?
No official announcement heard from Garritan or Plogue, strange.
Do you know about this, PLJones?
