This is my first time participating in OSC, if anyone wants direct feedback from me, PM me here, or better yet on Soundcloud. Good luck!

5 Alvfaria - Robotonik 3000 XL
4 3lu5iv3 - OSC
3 Darksynth FX - LOst in Space
2 Laxplanet - I used to watch VHS
1 Curiosity - Marat Tanalin
;) check out the first post of the thread, it will get you going. You need to make an account on https://www.onesynthchallenge.org/ and give 1-5 points to every track (69 tracks in total), not just five tracks.
Thanks now i found place where i can vote.

Post

Only thing when i register i can still put my tune any place voting page but maybe lists all.

That's OK. Just put YOUR tune into the "1" box, :borg: and then score the rest of the tracks anywhere from 1 to 5 ... :tu:

Enjoy the voting ... it's hard work, but there's a lot of very good tracks to hear out there :-)

I’m not sure it’s required to announce I’ve finished voting, but others do, so I do too: I’ve voted.

Apologies to those ranked below 4: one cannot like everything. Also, 5-point score system seems too rough, 10-point (or even order-based without using any points at all) one would probably allow rankings to be more precise and doubtless. Thanks.

I done this way of course. To my taste many have nice sounds, melodies et but some mixes have general wide which makes them harder listen. i dont like super compressed music.

Just finished reviewing and voting. Seriously top heavy with talent this month!

I gave out a number of fives, but my top two were
Jazzaria - Flying Around in Irrelevancies
and
mmGhost - Space Echoes

Good luck all!

Just because it's insane doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

I'm with you there ... I was guilty some time back of over-compressing things - maybe you can get away with it when you don't have too many instruments - when you have very dense sounds and lots of instruments playing at the same time, then overcompressing just loses all the detail and some sounds even get lost in the LOUD mush! Multiband compressors can often make things quite BAD! I always mix without any master chain in operation. I then kick in a broad brush EQ to just even out the balance (usually only a minor tweak needed, if at all), then, if the era/genre calls for it, I quite like using the tape emulations to add in some saturation (again, often only a little is needed), and finally a bit of compression/limiting. I watch my analyser to make sure I don't have any really nasty high peaks in any of the "main" musical bands - this is where the multiband compression can be seen to sometimes upset the balance if you are not careful.

HTH,

Hi, I've withdrawn my entry. Good luck to the rest. Be sure to leave helpful feedback for folks when you vote, especially if you can see room for improvement.

I don't even know how to make tracks louder with compression, was never interested in learning.

awww don't do that! I'm not happy with my track either, and even uploaded an unfinished version by mistake!
oh but I guess the blank spot on the voting list means it is already done. oh well, sorry you felt you needed to do that...
too bad I didn't get a proper listen before you sent your creation to the Ultimate Abyss, or where ever it is soundcloud puts deleted tracks.

Voted, that took some work. My top 5 were, not in any particular order:
  • fairplay - pearls and paper boxes
  • johanhov - the tyrell challenge
  • City and State, Please - Slow Loris
  • 574X - The toll of stress
  • opoint - KVR U-He TyrellCorp raw
The prize for the cognitive dissonance category for me goes to the jazzaria track; I really, really, really do not like synthesizers in jazz (my problem, not the song's), but it was nearly on the above list because it is so extremely solid musically and composition-wise (one of the best in the competition IMO). If only it weren't done with a synthesizer :)
