It looks nice and "mulligans" (developers starting over from scratch) usually turn out better, "lessons learned" and all that.

Yeah, I believe they said that some things like guitar notation and such won't be in the first version (not sure if it is a 2.0 or a .1, .2, .3 kind of thing). If they get the workflow right, and they can at least get in the ballpark of Finale and Sibelius, they can make some waves. I'm eager to give the demo a try when it is out.

I concur; 299 euros for the crossgrade is still too high a price point for me. I already have considerable investment in Finale and Sibelius, and both of them are extremely capable applications. To tempt me to open my wallet for another notation package, Steinberg needs to knock the crossgrade price down much more; I cannot justify spending more than $99 for such a crossgrade.koolkeys wrote:EDIT: It seems they WILL be offering a crossgrade. Yeah, if they could come down that far it would be a no-brainer. I would love to see an even greater discount as an owner of both, lol. And maybe a discount for owning Cubase. And you know what? I just remembered I have a copy of Notion 4 on the shelf. Darn it, I really think I should get Dorico for FREE!!!

But seriously, $299 for a crossgrade is too much. When Cubase offered crossgrades, I don't even think they cost that much. And Cubase overall is a more complicated app. So I'm really holding on for better prices upon launch.

I totally agree. Maybe at $99 I'd think about it. Besides, I just put in almost 3 years of hard work learning to deal with and work around all of Finale's many bugs and issues. Not sure if I really need every feature of "Sibelius 60", either. I think overloading these with options is what makes them so unstable -- just my guess.koolkeys wrote:
