I was going to say Neutron but then I saw you'd listed a lot of VSTis. But given that there are thousands of them, and you've missed out several that I use a fair bit, I suspect that most people are going to vote for 'Other'.

Regardless of what the reason is, without all representative possible answers, the results are pretty meaningless, especially if you got 80% other. What possible good could that do you?melodyz wrote:I appreciate your feedback. Please be reminded that KVR only allows 30 choices. So to get a really objective poll, yes it would be nice to list them all. Can I think of all of them? Not really. Again I am asking this question for a reason other than you realize.
Anyway, it's your thread and your poll so whatever floats your boat. I just don't see the point of any of this unless you'd like to share your reason with the rest of us.

Its basically a poll to see how many people use a synth he couldn't think of.wagtunes wrote:I just don't see the point of any of this unless you'd like to share your reason with the rest of us.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

I didn't even vote, I was too amazed at the selection overall. Would anyone in the world actually like Retrologue best?
Ha ha suck it!

Maybe if he uses Cubase, and doesn't have any third party soft synths.Apostate wrote:whyterabbyt wrote:Its basically a poll to see how many people use a synth he couldn't think of.wagtunes wrote:I just don't see the point of any of this unless you'd like to share your reason with the rest of us.![]()

Of course I'm stuck voting 'other' since there isn't a single one on the OP's list that coincides with my regular first and on most everything arsenal. Although it does get a few hits for my enhancers to the mix later on.
When jamming on our tablets, we do use what doesn't choke the 2-core i5's and that is where we probably use one of the KLC the most. (me: Wavestation; spouse: M1). But when 'scratch-padding', I tend to use HALion Sonic 2 more.
For the bigger machines though:
alphabetically
[Camel] Alchemy 1; Absynth 5; HALion 5; Kontakt 5; Pianoteq 5; Zebra 2HZ

But really, Retrologue 2 is my to go synth now. The best sound to CPU ratio
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Again sorry for the other category. Maybe KVR should put this poll out and allow every vst on the list. I will let everyone know that I was basically just grabbing softsynths that were more widely known. I am truly looking at the results to determine what type of synthesis is favored over another. Every vsti has its own interface etc. But when it come time to using sounds, which do you like. Feel free to use the comments. I will take the time and compile the results. But again you must choose only 1.

I will also add that there is an astonishing amount of "other vstis" that people like. If so please share the list. I will add all those up to 30 to a second poll so that the choice can be made from those exclusively. Remember we are talking about the 1 synth that you must use.

If you're trying to get a handle on what types of synthesis the majority here prefer, you're going to get a wide range. Some prefer wavetable. Others VA. Others additive. Others FM. Others granular. And then you're going to have those like me who like just about everything with the exception of FM being at the bottom of my list. And even at that, for some sounds, I find FM impossible to do without.melodyz wrote:Again sorry for the other category. Maybe KVR should put this poll out and allow every vst on the list. In short, this is really an exercise in futility, especially with so many hybrid synths available. Picking one synth that has multiple synthesis types is ultimately going to tell you zip.
I hope you're able to get something "useful" out of all this but don't hold your breath because it's doubtful one particular type of synthesis is going to dominate over another.

I think it is safe to say that the vastly most used synthesis type is subtractive synthesis, followed by wavetable, and FM synthesis. Most of the feature monster synth coming out today have all 3.
