bad boy :)

Did it finally work?

Post

no, not working still.
and i don't really want to install Chrome or anything just to download another free compressor.
sidechain would be handy though

Post

I used FireFox Last night. I have 'Adblock Plus' Installed etc. Maybe try again when it's not so busy.

I used Firefox too. No problems whatsoever.

So, cause like I care or some shit, I just recreated my previous cakewalk account which I hadn't logged into since before 2014 and which contains such winning products as "Studio Instruments" and "Audio FX bundle", yawn. At any rate, my new old account also now has a free compressor and the button worked instantly. You might try creating a cakewalk account before clicking the free button and see if that makes a difference.

Yawn ...

Here's a video with the Fabtastic CA-2A used on a Vocal Track.

I was really impressed when I tried CA-2A on Vocals last night. This guy obviously is too.

thanks for your concern, an shit.

because I'm bored or some shit, I made a Cakewalk account, but that button is still not working.

Post

not sure but try mobile device or try using vpn... had no problems with getting it using vanilla firefox accessing from uk

@ sqigls: Did you fill in all text fields? (apart from the last two, which aren't necessary i guess...) Also, try other browsers. If you're on Windows 10, you have at least 2 more installed, Edge and Internet Explorer. Otherwise, i really have no idea why it doesn't work for you. Worked fine here on the first try... i do have a Cakewalk account though, and my account details (email adress actually) was already filled in when filling out the text fields.

My yawn was directed at "Studio Instruments", which, if you haven't had an opportunity to check out, you should do so right away. Four fantastic sample based instruments that will bring new levels of realism to your midi productions.

The CA-2A gets a meh. It's fine, it's not worlds better than other similar plugins. That is, if it is, I certainly can't hear it. Could be because I'm tone deaf and have no taste though, you'll have to decide that for yourself.

Really? I have it but for some reason I haven't used it a lot. I prefer Waves CLA-2A. I haven't used the hardware LA-2A so I can't say which one is the best emu.

Kush Audio’s Gregory Scott opionion is that it doesn't sound like the real thing:

"The CA-2A is a very useful tool, but I’d have to respectfully say that of all the things it’s not, it’s not an LA-2A. You can clearly hear that the attack is fast, fast enough that it reminds me of typical plugin comps that behave like classic VCA comps (SSL and DBX being the most ubiquitous). It makes the drums sound ‘spanked’ and aggressively punchy… this is a very cool sound, but it’s not an LA-2A, and tests on various other sources confirmed that it’s simply a fast-ish limiter with a nice punch. Also, much like the original LA-2A plugin released by UA many moons ago, it makes no attempt to model the distortions, so turning up the Gain knob simply makes things louder. Again, this is a cool tool, but if you’re after the geniune LA-2A magic, it’s not in the same vein as the other models here." http://www.attackmagazine.com/features/ ... -hardware/
Yes, It is real. :)

I know there is some tweakings - attack or release(this is obvious), and Side chain.

I don't use optical compressor on percussive tracks. this is not the case for me. I use ssl-ish or api compressor on drums. So kush guy's opinion(attack problem?) does not come to my mind.

I didn't say it is the closest to real one, it is just one of the best out there among la2a eum plugins.
I use la-2a only for vocal track.

It is a killer compressor for vocal track.
I did shootout LA-2A emu's out there, especially on vocal tracks, and I found that it sounds somewhat modern-like but also have LA-2A-ish silky Smoothness, Analogy sound.
A friend of mine who has real one agree with this.

So.. Like i said, I have NI's one, But I had a plan to buy CA-2A on sale period, Hopefully for $49, But now I got this for free. Veeeery Good for me. :D

The only complaint about ca-2a is it seem to not add harmonics. (this is just my guess though)
But compressor part works great for me. :tu:

That's good to know, thanks! I’ll give it a shot and see how it compares to CLA-2A.
Optimal number of audio plugins is one more than you currently have.

CLA-2A is very good for vocal tracks too. I love it. :)
some vocal fit on CLA-2A, and other fit on CA-2A.
(Even though I don't like Ni's on vocal track, but some track on Ni's is great. I use Ni's Vc-2a on electric bass guitar track.)
I bet You can easily notice that those are 'different'. :phones:

and through this chance, I tested it on drum track (which is not my favorite situation), and I got the kush guy's opinion. There is a litte bit Kind of VCA-ish taste on initial part of transient.

Give it a shot! and if you like it, Use it! and don't like it? don't use it!

But I'm sure it helps you to expand your possibilities. :tu:
