Hi Roger-
Bit of a problem here - I updated from 1.2.5 and now the 4th - 7th notes from the top in the 14th column do not play. I've repeatedly reset the Linnstrument and tried reinstalling the 2.0.0-beta2 firmware, and it's always the same. If I downgrade back to 1.2.5, the notes in the 14th column go back to working as normal.

Sounds like a calibration problem. Please email me at the normal support email address with your name and serial number, and I'll be happy to get back to you tomorrow to solve the problem.

Hmm, you're the second one that after installing the beta has this. Could very well be a bug in the upgrade logic, I'll take a look at it.

@Chick Sangria and @bfuhrman, I indeed found a very weird bug in the upgrade logic between 1.2.5 and 2.0.0 that can corrupt the calibration settings. It will be fixed in the next beta, but the calibration data that's now stored on your devices is at this point incorrect. This is possibly the case for everyone that upgraded to the 2.0.0 beta. Please refer to http://www.rogerlinndesign.com/ls-global-settings.html where we discuss the calibration and point towards a video that explains how to do it. Be careful when doing this procedure, if not done diligently, your LinnStrument will lose precision and might respond strangely.

So I guess it is worth us all calibrating?

If done carefully and diligently, that's probably a good idea.

Okey Dokey.

I have done it before while messing around with the firmware so it should be fine. (Famous last words)

So what exactly can go wrong while calibrating? Which movements can harm the process?

You can't hurt the device, but if you're not doing the calibration slowly and carefully along the rows and columns of LEDs that are indicated, properly going until the edges, your LinnStrument will lose precision and can start acting weird when playing. The video that explains how to do it is a good reference.

Hi Geert-
I went through the calibration and it's still not playing all the notes in column 14. Again, reverting back to 1.2.5 fixes everything.

Did you do the calibration which being on the 2.0.0 beta, or did you calibrate 1.2.5 and then upgrade?

Calibrated after upgrading to the 2.0.0-beta2 firmware.

Calibrated after upgrading to the 2.0.0-beta2 firmware.
Can you try doing a complete factory reset after installing 2.0.0-beta by holding down Global Settings and Switch 2 while you power up the LinnStrument. You should see the calibration LED in Global Settings being red afterwards. Please perform calibration again at that point and let me know if that fixed things.

Success! Factory reset and re-calibration after the 2.0 upgrade fixes all of the non-playing notes on column 14.

Just showing my appreciation for the hard work Roger and Geert are doing on the Linnstrument.
