Man, you have no idea how puzzled I am right now, really happy, but really puzzled, too. Guenon, CymaticCreation and Slava (sfiks) did some outstanding masterpieces this time, which I will most certainly listen to again and you might not understand what a rare thing that is. So...I agree with zprime on that, too.
BUT you won't see me complain, uhm, nah! It's not the winning itself, of course, but it is how you give my most natural, musical self validation that I completely did not expect. And, once again, the joy that goes into a track, gives it its soul. And, man, did I love it.

Anyhow, :hail: CONGRATS  to the winners :hyper: and really everyone, who has managed to make a proper TyrellN6 track, because they'll always sound like quality tracks as almost all of yours do! :tu:
Many of you did some of the best tracks I've heard you do, yet. There is some magic in this synth for sure! :borg:

And THANK YOU!
...and, bj, you know I always thank you as we all can't really thank you enough for running this show!
You rock! 8)

Oh... u-he:Zebra, please! :hyper:
Taron, congrats my friend. I think you know how I feel about you. You're one of the people here who keeps me around.

I want to point out something so that maybe you'll understand how I feel. Your post is brimming with joy. One line in particular stands out.
musical self validation
It's a wonderful feeling isn't it. Well, it's a feeling I don't get when these things are all over. In fact, when these things are all over, all I feel is discouraged and even a bit angry. And whatever joy I had making my track is gone.

Maybe now you will understand why i can't this anymore. I really loved making that track this month and even turned it into a vocal production. But now, it's just another bitter disappointment and memory.

I knew you'd finish strong this month. You earned it.

I'm going to go back and do what I enjoy doing...making music for myself.

Congrats again my friend.

Oh, and as always, here were all my 5 pointers and how they finished which is why I should stick to critiquing and leave the music alone.

Solar (KVR One Synth Challenge #91) 8
mcaitch - pursuit (osc91 tyrell n6) 7
Orboscope - Exterminatrix 12
Ancient - Trans Pacifica 1.01 11 (DQ)
z.prime - The Apprentice 5
Jasinski- Something For Everyone (OSC91 Tyrell) 2

Wag, wag, wag... I should point out that I meant: the validation of my "Musical Self", not self validation via music. There's a massive difference, really. I just don't want this to be misunderstood, because nobody has to be validated for we're all "valid" and wonderful from birth.
To everyone of us there are many musical sides, expressing our mood, our desires, our observations and explorations, but not every time can we really let go without some repercussions, as most of us know already, I assume.
This time felt to me like I completely let it go its own way, only grooming its own development. With every new gate I almost went deeper into my own mind, which sounds a bit contradictory, but it's the best way I can describe it. At some point it pried open a complete absence of superficial concerns, revealing what I fully love to create until this freed me to just have a bit of fun back to the outside world, so to say...rather outside of my normal comfort zone, but still totally fun. Thus, this was probably the most liberating win for me, yet.
What I'm trying to tell you with this is that the most important thing I got from this was to completely embrace making music for myself. Where this revelation comes from is much less important than the revelation itself. Thus, keep making music for yourself and I'm really happy you've managed to enjoy yourself making it! :tu: Never mind the charts!

A little extra info: I considered making a dubstep-style song for the next one, but it really isn't me. I feel awkward and insincere going for it. Though I can appreciate many manifestations of that style, it really just isn't me (yet). After a brief exchange on the #92 thread on how quickly some songs were made and posted, I remembered how quickly I used to make songs and started a totally careless little piece, showing me again what comes most natural to me. :hyper:

Thank you very much :), it means a lot being acknowledged by fellow wizards, haha. And I'm more than okay with my placement, it's great.

As you likely have noticed, when I have the time to enter, my goal is to choose a different concept every time, and then succeed in bending the synth of the month to suit that scene in a wholesome fashion. If it goes well, and I have that certain feeling along the way that I have managed to cross a barrier of sorts, it's a blast. And then, afterwards, if I see there are people who are deeply into these things and take notice and resonate with all of that and appreciate the effort this much, that makes me very happy!

This is why I also hope people like CymaticCreation (et al) don't take their placements too hard. Man, no matter how the votes went, that effort and skill and attention to detail didn't go unnoticed! Absolutely beautiful wizardry there. But yeah, I already wrote quite a bit of comments on SoundCloud, so I'll just say, congratulations! It was an exquisite round, this time.

My winner would have been 3lu5iv3 track this month, the little masterpiece that is, (see its place?), but that matters? Nothing. I even gave Staring At The Ceiling 4 points this time beacuse I felt Wag melody catchy for once. Two examples only, to make it short.

Don't worry. Be happy.

As expected, yeah, but I'd like to be in a group which shares with me at bit more than 50% of the same musical taste and musical experiences. So I could feel more at home. (I challenge everybody to say that my entry is at 30 because of the low mix quality or the bad sound design, <grin>). I feel like a stranded child so please forgive if talk selfishly. But aren't we here each one for his/her own child track?

Congrats to winners of course!

Well, whatever you meant it comes down to this.

I do a track, I feel good, I post it here, contest ends, I feel bad. It isn't worth it. The whole competition thing ruins any enjoyment I got out of doing the piece in the first place. To be consistently told you are slightly better than the worst of the worst gets tiresome after a while. I don't need it. So this time, I am truly done with these. I don't care if my favorite synth in the whole world comes up one month (which is doubtful as no free synth is my favorite synth in the whole world) I am D O N E...done.

Good luck next month. I'll be pulling for you to win it again.

The tune you made is cheerful and friendly and nice, and that's something to be proud of, in itself. On occasion I've noticed I'm humming the main melody here. It sticks to your head and is a success in that sense.

There's just a huge rift between that and your perspective on the whole thing. I'm hesitating whether I should comment on this any further, but maybe for perspective:
wagtunes wrote:I was the first one to finish, taking all of about 2 hours.
You used two hours in making that track :), seriously. You said it's just for fun, and that you don't care about how it fares, and pushed it out in two hours. It sounds cheerful and nice - but also sounds like it was indeed made in two hours. Taken as it is, that's not a bad thing at all, and doesn't in any way mean you are bad. When a two-hour effort goes head to head with tracks that have been crafted for days or even weeks, it's in a tough company.
wagtunes wrote:To be consistently told you are slightly better than the worst of the worst gets tiresome after a while.
The point is, these results aren't telling you that, and don't make yourself believe that sort of thing. If you put in two hours, and the track places near the bottom end, it's not indicative of you being "slightly better than the worst of the worst." In my opinion that placement is to be expected, for a two-hour effort, and reading too much else into it is just being too hard on yourself.

Thanks for all the nice words here and SC guys. Unfortunately had a very difficult time responding, let alone commenting myself. Could hardly follow what was going on on my mobile on the road.

Congrats to the winners, well deserved.
I'm really happy to see Taron win this one, as well as my absolute favourites this month ending up in the top 5. I have to mention other two tracks I really enjoyed as well: Vinha- Tyrell Voodoo and johanhov- The Tyrell Challenge.

As for my score, didn't really expect to make it in the top 15 list, so Thank you all, yes even those who scored my entry with 2pts. That made me go back and listen for obvious mistakes and plan for improvements (within the genre/style).

Post

"obvious mistakes"???  What nonsense!
Seriously, I think, the only trouble with your complete masterpiece was that it might've taken a tad long to reveal its musical core, but other than that, I just listened (feasted) through the whole 9+ minutes of it and tumbled from one delight into the next. I loved it 100%, for what it's worth. And, again, maybe just regard the slight lack of patience out there, but other than that... I want the sequel FOR SURE! :hyper:

Congratulations to the winners this time around, and especially to Taron! We really had some really nice tracks this time around.

 Thanks mate. And that would be my musical validation.

As for the structural details and length, yes, all my music is like that, but on purpose; moody, slow, atmospheric and no hooks every 30-45 seconds. And you're right, can't expect everybody to like that, and that's perfectly fine.

Hi 3lu5iv3, I'm really pleased that you entered your track in the OSC, it's a bit of genious for me, and this is what I feel (no kind words,<wink>)
I see others have different strong preferences, to each his own. I can't wait to listen to your next entry. And bh9090, fairplay, foxAsteria too.
