Have you tried both download options? It’s highly unlikely that the second one will give a corrupt download – be specific as to this, what browser? Are you using a download manager that has multiple threads? How big is the download on your disk? The second option is a fast European server

If you want and with ‘Ticks knowledge, I can place the demo on a fast USA server close to you and pm you the link.

I just downloaded from Tick's home site with no problems. (After finding out the Moog set does not work with Rhino 2 Pre release SP1) 8)

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

Hi

It was tempting to use the pre-release but I just waited for the 'Official' release (thank goodness) which considering I purchases the MOOG bank appears to have saved me some mis-chief!

Flipper.

Post

Hey,

Pre-release means just that, it's a temporary version before the official release. Some bugs were fixed between the pre-release and the official V2, so make sure you update if you haven't already !

Just a side note--strictly FYI. I had a bit of trouble with the audioshots domain resolving a few nights ago. There was a DNS problem up the line a way upstream and there was about a day or so that the domain wouldn't resolve on this part of the net.

I only know because it was the day before the Moog Classic went on sale. :-)

That should be an aberration and shouldn't happen often. But it may explain some apparent outages people may have experienced.

The Europe server was up this weekend - the time you speak of is true, one of the Europe servers went down for a short time, 'Tick was notified that the demo file (not his site (that's someone else)) hosted on them would have been affected at that time. cheers! over 500 completed downloads of the demo in the last few days suggest to me that the problem is truly with the guy who started this post (asumming he even had a go at the audioshots option)

He wanted a quick answer - he got one - if he wants the demo from a server just outside his front door - this is possible - he just has to ask :D I will pop it onto one of my artist hosting servers in the USA :D

running:msn with internet explorer on windows xp home (sp1). i had recieved through automatic update a couple of xp sp2 updates but since my rhino 2 update attempt i have deleted them.

modem:ic+ external data fax voice modem. this modem has worked very well for about 2 years. however i did lose the driver during my sunday attempts to download the rhino 2 demo. i'm assuming because of all the system restores i tried and downloads attempted it simply got stressed out, as do all from time to time. because of all the system restores i lost the latest in the sonar and vst adapter updates. i reloaded the modem driver and again updated sonar and the vst adapter without a problem. in the past i had downloaded applications that were between 2 and 3 hours long without a problem. wish i could justify the cost of updating to dsl or somthing faster than my dial-up but i can't.

events:initialy the downloads were approximately 45 minutes and fluxuating. with these downloads i could only get the standalone to work and couldn't get the adapter to overwrite the pre-release version. i tried to delete the dll. but to no avail. so as i continued to try and redownload the demo i decided to try the slower link. this link was about 1hr. and 45 minutes. it too didn't work and now i couldn't even get the standalone to showup. after several hours of attempts to download and system restores to get at least the standalone back both links went to approximately 1hr. and 45 minutes and fluxuating.
finally in the end i'm left with the pre-release in standalone. i could no more explain why or how i got there than i could explain stem cells or dna. well there you have my weekend in download hell.
take care. :-o

Now I'm puzzled. If you have the standalone V2 (the final one, not the prerelease) working, then your download was ok... If you still have the installer, you should manually remove rhino2.dll from your vst folder, and run the installer again. Then have the vst adapter do a rescan.

at one time i had the pre-release version working in sonar and project 5. i was successful in downloading the rhino 2 final release version but it would only run in stand-alone. i tried to delete the pre-release version dll. and then run the rhino 2 final release installer then the adapter but could not get the rhino final release to register in sonar or project 5. so i deleted the rhino 2 final release version (45mindownload)and started from scratch. did this several times but couldn't get the final release to overwrite the pre-release. as i went along deleting and redownloading i would try the installer but would get the message files corrupted try and download again. which i did again and again. out of desperation i tried system restore here and there in this process to locate the orginal rhino 2 final release but couldn't find it. as i kept trying to download the final release demo from your site they gradually became longer and longer from 45min. to 1hr. and finally to 1hr.45min. in the end all files were corrupt and i was being told to download the files again by the error message. so as i've stated now twice i have only a standalone version of the prerelease version because when trying to open this version in sonar or project 5 where it once worked i get an error message missing sav.tmp file. which by the exists in the pre-releasd folder. tonight i'm going to give downloading the rhino demo one more try. i'll try and save the appropriate reg. file and presets and do a complete clean uninstall of rhino except for the few files i'll try and save somewhere. unfortunately this probably means losing rhino 1.9. oh and i don't have any anti-virus software loaded on my computer at this time so maybe this was a virus of some kind don't know. although i'm relativley new to this daw game i just can't see where i would have screwed up. i do have some experience now as to upgrading softsynths and other software and haven't had too many problems. this one is completly and excuse the pun foreign to me. don't know if i've left anything out only know even ionesco would be a little perturbed.

Well, most probably the V2 installer will be on most magazine cdroms in september. This should save you the trouble of downloading it.

Removing all occurences of rhino2.dll on your system and running the installer should definitely work.

I know it’s obvious but please make sure you save the file to disk and not install directly from the net. Save the installer to a safe place on your hard disk (maybe even make a download directory to save it to) you will then be very sure you are installing from the latest installer.

Follow ‘Ticks advice about deleting (in fact save the key file and any custom patches you have made to a safe place and fully un install the program from the windows un install box) then re-start the computer – then re install Rhino from your latest download – then place your key file back into the installed directory – then re-scan the vst adapter listing.

Please follow these instructions – it just has to work if you follow them.
