I got a this freebie info directly from cakewalk.
and inside, there is my specific my name.

I guess This mail was sent for selected people, especially for sonar platinum user.
(Why am i thinking this way? I noticed from cakewalk forum, there is a lot people who didn't receive this offer with non-platinum cakewalk users. But I'm not 100% sure.)

So I think there is nothing wrong with this statement -
"This isn’t a sale, contest, or annoying share button for your friends on social media. We simply want to give you something that we’re incredibly proud of."

I already have Cakewalk Command center(CCC), and there was almost no effort for this installation.
everything was Very smooth. It cost me 3 minutes total with no effort. (Download, install, authorizing. all are instant and automatic on CCC.)

The statement above is TRUE for me as a email receiver.

First time I saw this giving away, I thought cakewalk team is crazy or mad. Why? I had a plan to buy this compressor for vocal tracks.
Yes, I needed it.
If everyone can get this for free, this is very good for you guys, Even if it needs some effort.

OR

is it just marketing that bothers you? then please just pass it, and just ignore it. this is good for you, i guess.

I just acted like that when the slate digital's freebie compressor is out.
Since ilok things are very annoying for me, (and Even Hardware ilok needed) I just passed it.

:)

Nope, nothing wrong with that statement, that's more marketing. The subtext is, "we want to make you feel special so that you, our best customers, remain loyal and don't jump ship."

Well, marketing can be annoying, but that's not happening here, per se. I think that the only thing that people are complaining about is that Cakewalk asks you to load their intrusive Command Center. No, it's not that intrusive, but, yes, it does muck about in places where it's best to just not put more marginally necessary stuff there.

I only commented about marketing because people are trying to pull the gratitude card. These promotions are almost always done because the firm feels that, in some way, it will help the firm. Whether that's getting new customers, or retaining old customers. That's the point. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it, but one shouldn't be naive about what is happening.

If you run a promotion, people are going to discuss the details of it, whether it's Command Center or iLok, somebody's not going to be happy and it's perfectly reasonable to compare one offer against others and assert that one doesn't feel that it's as competitive as it should be.

Depends on the material, but optical compressors have a slow attack which doesn't make them very good for drums, usually. You have to think about it, it's fixed attacked and release is dependent on material, you can read the manual for more info.

is CCC necessary? I don't believe it. There are many friends of mine who have authorized it offline method with their serial number, Registration code.

I don't know, it's not really presented that way and that's why people talk about it. It's not presented that way because Cakewalk wants you to install their software because it's an outlet to be in contact with you.

Well, I got the same personally addressed mail and I'm still on Sonar X3 basic edition (although I do have 8.5 Professional). I can't imagine why I'd be considered amongst a select group of Cakewalk users. Maybe the people who didn't get the mail have either now got it or were never signed up for the newsletter.

Jesus Christ in a f*cking chicken basket. Command Center is not needed. Just log in to your Cakewalk account and download an offline installer like with all the other Cakewalk products. Then do the authorization thing.

I simply answered the question dude, The very first words of my response are "I don't know."

You're overreacting, I don't care all that much, I've already installed the command center. In any case, I'm not talking about "me." Moreover the point that I was making was about how it's presented which has an impact on how people will judge the offer.

Really, I don't even know what you're trying to argue or why you're swearing and quoting me.

Same here; I got the personally-addressed email and I'm on my last month of payments for Professional. The fact that anyone can use the page lends credence to it being a marketing stunt, but some Sonar users got direct correspondence about it.

It sounds good on solo trumpet as well.
