but..

What happened to 2Dat? :o

Will there perhaps be a OB-Xd "Pro" version in the future, payware? You being a company with precious time probably should want to get some commercial advantage out of this, right? :)

No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

WOW. We had some divergences in the past, but I highly commend you for this. Can you post your future plans, road map, etc.?

Will it still be a freebie, a donationware, a shareware or a payware?

Here you go, all sounds are my original patches, no effects, no compression, no EQ....

100% OB-Xd (the "old" version) + mono looped drum room mic

Would love it if the AU version would retain controller assignments, the OB-Xd my favorite softsynth, and the Korg Minilogue is the perfect control surface for it (in the *original* OB-Xd layout) but none of the assignments are retained. It''s such a bummer.

I built the binary according to the instructions, had no trouble, installed it into my ~/vst/misc/ directory, the plugin instantiates with no trouble in Bitwig 1.3.13, and I had no problems loading banks and individual presets.

Btw, I didn't have to adjust anything in the source files. I simply cloned them from git and built the binary using the included Linux Makefile, i.e. I didn't need to remake the Makefile with Introjucer. Platform is Fedora 21 x86_64, GCC 4.9.2.

Best,

No, no pro or similar. OB-Xd and any updates will be free.

It nice for you to take over the project, it's certainly good to see that this synth is not abandoned and also that it's going to remain free!

I really like the new skin, which brings me to my question:
Wouldn't it be better to just use the /skins folder instead of having the user to copy the background file to my documents? If the skins folder was used the plugin would be 100% portable.

When you got a lot of plugins it becomes a hassle each time you have to reinstall OS. Copying all the presets, skins, samples etc from various different folders on your HDD can be a tiresome task. Dozens and dozens of small tasks become a big task when combined together.

In my opinion the way U-he does it with their plugins is the best and it's one of the reasons why I like using them. All the plugins I have from them are portable. Of course you need to re-enter SN when their payware plugin is run on a new system for a first time, but you don't have to move any files back and forth.

I also preferred when Discovery Pro was portable as well. To me the change in which all the presets were put into my documents was not a good one.

My 2 feature requests:
Independent voice card (or each oscillator) drift (can be via S/G LFO) and envelope shape non/linearity control.

As it is now i rarely use the synth, because the tuning is too stable and it doesn't provide the envelope shape i like to use when programming OB-X(a), OB-8 sounds.
Here is my old thread about the envelope problem:

Great news George!!

Do you have a kind of roadmap for planned improvements for OBXD???

Thanks!!!

Great news!

You are company with strong Linux version so it would be great if you can compile last OBXD to vsti.
For now i will try to use the instruction from kvr that ive found on your pages.

To avoid transcoding, use the WAV file here
