Wonder if they are time limited, or to keep for life ?
In demo mode works for 15 minutes, before Kontakt must be restarted
Symphony Essentials:
4.3GB - Brass Ensemble Demo
2.2GB - Brass Solo Demo
3.5GB - String Ensemble Demo
3.0GB - Woodwind Ensemble Demo
2.0GB - Woodwind Solo Demo
---
=15GB

Compared to full version the demo versions "Includes a reduced set of samples and articulations for light scoring tasks"

If you click on "See Pricing" - the Essential range has pricetags ($199 each).
So if the Essentials are lighter versions of the full Symphony Series, then are the demos even lighter versions of the Essentials? Are there any limitations?
*confused*

I am downloading to try and find out, but it is like half an hour since I for the links, and yet I haven't got it in my mailbox
I guess their servers must be hammered at the moment...
Edit: Now managed to download Woodwind ensemble which is 2.89 GB in size, so that size is in accordance with what is stated on their page

Awesome!
Very interested to hear what (if any) limitations there are.

Just tried this on one of the libraries. You download the complete sets and install them, but they are used in DEMO mode until they are registered...
I guess that means you can try them out for 15 minutes for each session.

Got a couple of more links delivered now, but they only lead to download download managers.
And so far 50% of them don't work, just gives a message about crash and that NI would appreciate receving info about it.
So, I wonder if this is some sort of beta testing of their downloaders in disguise.

when is something not free ?
when it's a demo and times out after 15 minutes in full kontakt version.
free demo ? who pays for demos anyway ?

"Free demo" is a often used term. The question is rather why the OP thinks that a demo should be possible to use unrestrictedly.topaz wrote:when is something not free ?

Even if they are the stock-standard Kontakt demo limitations, NI should clearly spell it out somewhere on the pages. If several of us here got confused about what exactly "free demo" meant, then I imagine hundreds or thousands more around the world are wondering the same thing. It's not just a "duh, it's a demo - what did you expect?" thing.

Devs occasionally give away cut-down versions as unrestricted demos or actually full products of product line they want to sell. Check out Kosmology Free Fall at HGSounds for example. Also loop companies give away free packs they call demos all the time. Of course, this is nothing new.
