What do you mean "find Waves folder"? Cubase is not producing such things. If Cubase does not see a plugin, it just silently drops it off. Any chance to see a screenshot? Maybe you mean license missing dialog box?
I can't provide screenshots because I've unistalled it and am reluctant to install it again.
But, I would open Cubase, and, because Cubase scans for new pulgins, it would find the newly installed Waves stuff. That's when I would get a regular open-file dialog, with a title asking for Waves dll location. I pointed it to every Waves and plugin folder I could find, including going through user app-data folder, Programs and Programs (x86). The dialog would not accept any of them. Clicking Cancel to get rid of the dialog was the only way to get Cubase to finish loading. And then Waves was absent from the plugin list.
It's not a license issue because I activated a copy of C6 which I bought in the sale last week. I had to use Waves Central to do that, and it displayed all my Waves licences and downloaded the C6 license to my dongle. When I re-installed the last version before Waves Central, 9. 3, everything works, including C6.

I put it down to not having an up to date Win 7 installation (because of Microsoft's win 10 commando tactics).
Hey ho.

Just now i tried install waves centrall again in hope that create offline installer error fixed now, but no, the same problem (error during prepare).
Maybe someone from planet earth figured how to do it ? :D
I've not read the whole of this (old) thread, so apologies if this has been mentioned...

I used to have this problem on Win 7/64 bit. But I found that Waves Cenral needs a patch from Microsoft to work. (System Requirements / KB2999226)
Once I installed this I was able to "prepare" an off-line installer.
However, once installed, everytime I'd open my DAW (Cubase) I'd get a "find Waves folder" dialog open up. Heaven only knows where I was supposed to point it. Went back tp 9.3.
Oh ok, thanks, will keep in mind. Though now i try to solve it with support, will see maybe something happens.

This is very strange, I never ever ever seen Cubase asking for a plugin location via a dialog box, all versions I've got - 5.1.1 (I think) to 8.5 today. Sorry to say, and I am not trying to heart you in any way, but I am not buying the 'dll location dialog box' story.

Cubase has list of paths where plugins are stored, so if Cubase does not find there a specific plugin, it will never ask for a location on Cubase start. It just considers the plugin was deleted, whatever. There is no such thing in Cubase that it 'knows' there should be a plugin installed but it cannot find it. If Cubase cannot find it on start, it does not open any dialog boxes, it just considers the plugin is not installed. It is working like this for ages.

Another situation could be that if you open a project containing a plugin which is not installed/activated, then Cubase shows a dialog box saying the plugin is missing, but still, Cubase is not asking for a location. You need to close the project, install the missing plugin, and re-open the project.

Yet another situation could be that a plugin is not activated or license is missing. Then Cubase would open a dialog box asking if you want to re-scan for licenses or omit the plugin for this session. Still, no location is asked.

Cubase does not do this, no. The plug-in tho maybe does.

Cubase runs the plug-in to test for blacklisting, this testing can be interrupted by the plug-in to ask for anything with dialog boxes and such things. This is to say: plug-ins like this being independent from Cubase can do anything, Cubase only calls and hosts what the plug-in is doing.

Here we go. I took these on my on-line machine. I installed WC. Ran Cubase.

I was going to add a fourth but kvr is telling me I can only attach 3 screenshots. It demonstrated that it's not a Cubase issue, because the same dialog pops up when trying ti run the GTR3 stand-alone, just reworded for GTR, rather than Waves.

Here's the GTR dialog...
And, by the way, uninstalling, again, and reverting to 9.3.
So there! :tu:

Ah! Means I did not get you in the beginning. It's not Cubase, it is Waves Shell asking for location.

Weird. What did tech support say?

Well, as result i back to 9.3 too.
Should note, in some ways I'm glad this circumstance, because in 9.3 installer there is choise location for install, very useful moment.

Waves Central is such bullshit.

All I want to do is uninstall the expired demo to another bullshit product, Waves NX. Should be easy, right? No.

After f**king around with Waves Central and it not accepting my password I find that once you log into support there's the lovely message that Waves Central downloaded before August will not work.

Wait... Then what the f**k was that "checking for updates" BS I had to wait for when I first opened Waves Central?

THEN, after installing, and selecting "Uninstall" where I'm supposed to be able uninstall the individual plugins (like it says in the little box on the right), but the only option is to uninstall ALL Wave plugins. No, not user error... This is a thing.

Anyway, good to know as it reaffirms my commitment to never buying Waves products again. I was going to download a new demo of their electric pianos but f**k that. f**k Waves. Still love Maxx Bass and I wish I didn't because it remains the last reason I still user their products. :x

I actually quite like Element 2 but haven't gotten Live to recognize Waves plugins since switching back to Windows a few years ago. Just gave up. It's a shame.

I don't mind these product shells so much - Native Access has been working for me. And I get how difficult it is to get anything working properly on Windows (I should now, I'm a Windows dev.) Look at how Ableton had to jump through hoops and install their product in ProgramData so they could write back to the application folder, etc.. But Waves are big boys with a legacy; shame there have been so many unresolved problems combating piracy at the expense of legit customers.

repeating record on......

People having problems have a bone to pick. People that done do too. I'd be pissed if it was happening to me but it hasn't yet.

The only thing for me is trying to keep track of where I have the f....ing licenses installed. For some dumb reason I had them off the cloud and then on my computer (big no-no) and luckily remembered to put them back on the cloud before the clean install.

Now they are on a stick.

Ok, now I'm even pissed having to remember that :x

EDIT, oh forgot to mention love the Tal Wilkenfeld wallpaper (what a player!)
