Bought apple gift cards on ebay at 3am in the morning.

Usually they go for about 90-95% value... but if you're sneaky, you can get them much cheaper.

Renoise, so it's tracker so track based , every track gonna control (typically) one instrument and some fx chain after it (it supports groups(in groups) and sends too), every instrument(VSTi, sampled, midi-out) has key(or program change) triggered clips (phrases in Renoise) they can be triggered using some MIDI device, or from the main pattern editor(ofc. instrument notes/samples also can be triggered directly so the whole phrase system is optionally)


(slicing is non destructive, and can be applied different fx chains to different sliced parts(I've forgot it in the video))

the fun part starts after u resampled and sliced your materials and begin to add different fx(modulation) chains its different sliced parts(fxs can be macroed same way as is in Ableton,Bitwig) nicely then they can be retriggered from the pattern editor

worth to use it with Reaper(which hasn't got strong modulation support, but can handle the audio materials superbly) through ReWire protocol (for me it has 5ms delaying)

Been messing with the demo a little, and it's almost the full version. However, resample/sample grabbing etc., really interest me, but they are left out of the demo

but as I see now, using it(the sampler part) from Renoise itself is much more easier/faster, the integration level of the app. is quite good

It's probably just me, but everytime i see Renoise, i wonder how someone can work with that GUI. Absolutely horrible for me. Each to his like!

Do you mean GUI itself (icons, buttons) or the user interface and the workflow (pattern editor, sampler, etc.)?
The latest version has flat GUI (a bit more modern one) and looks a bit better.

I remember when I saw Piano roll first time. That was in FL Studio 4 and after years of tracking my impression of Piano roll was so bad, I couldn't image how some can do music in piano roll so slow and unintuitive

I actually turned down a copy of 'Renoise' here a few months back, because I thought 'Redux' was the way to go. However, I really want the whole daw experience. Can't afford it right this moment, though

not easy to play it on an AKAI MPK-49 with one hand only I can play it much better on "real" piano , btw

u can buy the sheet from Vika quite challenging to learn it especially with the left hand check the end parts

So what is so great about Renoise, other than its cool French name?

Renoise is like the ultimate sampler, offering extremely tight, note-by-note control. It's a crazy top-down sequencer that allows much of the work to be done quickly with a 'qwerty' keyboard (However, being able to enter steps from a midi keyboard is fantastic)

I'm probably not the only person who has romanticised about such a complete diametric shift in workflow (Logic pro user, normally), getting the creative juices flowing again. It seems alienating, and turns up quite frequently in the kvr marketplace.

I've been trying to watch the videos, but i'm not really into EDM type music. The guy's voice is quiet, but the music is not. It is very noisy.

It is a very strange way to look at music. However, I could see if you were a programmer, the whole thing would be really cool.

Maybe if it is still around when I have more time... (this is wishful thinking - I never seem to have more time)

It looks very busy, and i'm not at all a fan of that black background GUI insanity at all, also not in Studio One v3. I think it's a major design flaw to have a black background. I do get why they do that on image editing software, but not on audio software.

Actually in Renoise, you can change the UI color to pretty much whatever you
want.
