I have been comparing filter code from 2Dat branch to 1.3 and is identical.

https://github.com/2DaT/Obxd/blob/maste ... e/Filter.h

I'm open to receive tweaks for the better :)

If I recall correctly, Soshi Studio bring the new skins. The skin from Soshi + the code from 2dat was merged by Dozius, AFAIK, and now is taken by George.
Not 100% factual. I never had access to all the changes Soshi Studio made. The source they published didn't match up with the binaries they offered and what they did offer looked they had built on top of a much older version of the original source from 2Dat.

At the time nobody knew who Soshi Studio was, why they were using sneaky tactics to get money from people or why they didn't publish all the modifications to the source code (as required by GPL, mind you).

What I did was fork the latest available source code from 2Dat on Github and cleaned up and updated the build system a bit to make it easy to build cross platform. I also released windows binaries based on this code. I did this so people would have a reliable place to get the latest code from the original author.

I was always curious if the sound and CPU changes were a result of Soshi Studio using old code or not, but I don't actually use Obxd, so never took the time to compare myself. Not sure if anyone ever compared to the binaries I had been hosting up until discDSP took over the project.

Assuming George has the full Soshi Studio source code, he could easily diff it against the latest 2Dat commit or my own fork to see what is different with the DSP portions of the code. From what I recall two of the things added to the source that weren't in the Soshi Studio version I saw were SSE optimizations and an economy mode. It's been awhile since I looked, so don't hold me to it.

Soshi did zero changes to filter code. Same as 2Dat and Dozius forks.

Cool, I guess it got updated at some point. I know the original Obxd webpage was updated at some point saying the Soshi changes were merged into the fork I had made or something. I honestly couldn't tell you what that source looked like because it was never released, at least I couldn't find it. Anyways, glad someone picked up this orphaned project. It was too popular to let die.

edit: didn't need the huge image in the quote.

By the way good news :D I have been messing around and managed to compile the 64 bit VST for Linux :tu: Got it running in Renoise but needs more testing.

Thanks so much for this freebie. I've been enjoying it a lot today. Any chance you could add a clock sync option for the LFO?

Downloaded, and tested in Bitwig 1.3.13.
Looks like the default skin is blue. Will try to fix later.
Blue and Classic skins both work here.

Thanks, George !

I'm also starting to appreciate having this more simplified interface. Theres a lot of features that could be added, but it might become too busy and complicated. Even the classic interface is still a little too big for my laptop so i would request a resizable interface, but i think i saw earlier that it wasn't possible. No biggie, since i usually use a larger monitor.

Great news that George has taken over development ! :tu:

Is there any way to get the Red Buttons shown above on the Classic Skin on Windows ?

Oh and does a skin folder have to be named Classic or Blue ? I made a simple skin edit and named the folder Classic Tek 01 but it wouldn't load. I changed the name to just Classic and it would load. I'm doing a few skin edits and will post them if anyone is interested. Just simple color edits of existing skins. :)

Check out the envelopes, that's what people mentioned as the cause of different sound, not filters.

Envelope code is exactly the same as 2Dat source.

1.3.1 is out now:

Compiled using 2Dat code and -O3 flag.
Included manual and presets.
Revised Readme.html.
Linux 64-bit VST build.

Cheers.

Will you do something to the dsp engine, maybe version 2 or something? I know I'm getting ahead of things but I think the sound could be brought even closer to hardware :) Thanks a lot for taking over the project, very generous of you!
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Yes of course! :) no need for version 2 just updating it and getting it better. A wish list has been created at our forum to compile enhancements from the users.

Oh thats so cool! I was just mentioning version 2 because if you change the sound, some people will start complaining (as happened in this thread already, even though you said the dsp code is the same  )

Yes, identical. We can always add switches to preserve the original sound ;)
