I bought in to the GA stuff a long time ago too. My plan is, that once you buy in to my resources, which aren't just wave cycles, but whole wavetables, you get all future additions for free. I will also explore conversions to alternative formats where possible.fmr wrote:Just like it happens with patches, I think that wavetables is a very personal thing. What is a "good wavetable" for you, can be an uninteresting thing for me. Likewise, what I consider a good wavetable can be horrible for you. That's why I fight for the presence of a wavetable editor in each wavetable synth.cytospur wrote: Edit: I guess the real point is that it's not trivial to make a good wavetable, even with an editor. I'm aiming to provide a decent low cost source.
If you find you have a good product, by all means, make it available. People who value it will buy it. Some that could buy but consider it expensive may probably say so. I personally have lots of wavetables that I have been creating and collecting, and I am well served. I bought Galbanum Archtecture once because it was a package with many patches for Metasynth. Then I bought the waves, in a crossgrade. I basically never used them, and I regretted to have paid for that. I found the vast majority uninteresting and useless. And I was astonished when I saw that a payment was asked for the same package converted to another format.
I found AKWF package much better, for example, and it is free. There are lots of wavetable packages, and wave packages available for free. Besides, with Audio-Term, you can come up with very good wavetables out of almost nothing. And creating them is even a lot of fun
Do you or would you buy wavetables?

The AKWF tables really are insanely generous. Kind of surprised they are free. Use them frequently, and have for a long time now. Audio-Term is my go-to for custom wavetables (Dune 2 format mostly) but it resynthesizes every sound you put into it so while some tables may come out sounding interesting, you don't always get what you are after - which can be the goal sometimes.fmr wrote:cytospur wrote:I found AKWF package much better, for example, and it is free. You have me as the quote, where it's actually fmr's quote!Ridan wrote:The AKWF tables really are insanely generous. Kind of surprised they are free. Use them frequently, and have for a long time now. Edit: the resynthesis issue is a difficult one and several 'resynthesizers' have it. I don't try to resynthesize, but I do try to identify relevant wave cycles through a sample. The system that I've developed works rather well, although I can't say it does 100% unfortunately

Sorry for the miss quote fellas! In any case, it would be nice to have WT. files that aren't resynthesized, or at least not too drastically altered, especially if they are your own. Who knows. Maybe there will be an all in one wavetable converter by the time 2067 rolls around.fmr wrote:Yep, my wordscytospur wrote:You have me as the quote, where it's actually fmr's quote!Ridan wrote:The AKWF tables really are insanely generous. Back on topic.
Would definitely buy WT. and wtb format tables. Spectral and fractals being the main focal point, but am open to anything worthwhile that aren't in the "basic waveform" categories.

Can you give me some idea of what you mean by fractal wavetables please? I have made a Weierstrass-based wavetable if that's the sort of thing you're looking for.

Yes, I would be interested, and I may also be interested in the terms for a sound designer. Thanks.

In other news, I have found some time to work on Wavelet, my wavetable maker for Windows for those that want to roll their own! Now expanded to 8 cycles with performance improvements. It's just going through a process of testing and then I shall release it
It will be non-obligatory donationware.

If you could get me fuller sounding WT for DUNE 2 that will 90%+ emulate all the classic analog gear - but they need to sound big - big Junos Jupiters Oberheims Moog saws, grit, and the like I would discuss with you. Visit this youtube to hear great samples.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... xTsOqlsug4
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 8BF7ACB89D
I love these sounds what can I say. But I dont want to spend all day adding up 5 layers to get the sound I am going for. I want to layer 3-4 waveforms and be good to go.
ON another note - I am using a demo of Rapid - go listen to their wavetables in that demo. Why does Dune 2 not have a sound this full?
PM me to discuss in greater detail if interested in pursuing.
