Besides, it's even debatable if that's enough for a 2.0 version (IMO, it isn't - a 1.1 version maybe). We got more in DIVA for a .x update, and for free.
Not quite fair to compare though, is it? Diva costs more, and you also pay for the ongoing updates with the prices for a u-he product. Apart from that, they don't do sales either, and you can either get Saurus in a direct sale from Tone2, or from one of the vendors which offer Tone2 plugins.

After all, you will have to decide for yourself, if it's worth the price, or which price model you want to go for, when buying from either of the 2 companies.

I like the 2 gui much better. But then, I got my upgrade for free. It was strange, in the very beginning of the upgrade Tone2 said it was free for users of 1. Then they turned around and made the users pay for it. But I was on them like white on rice and they had to give it up.

It was pretty killer for free. I don't get the indifference but hey to each their own. I love it.

I paid the same for both. If I remember well, I bought DIVA for 99,00 when it was in pre-launch. And having ongoing support is something expected from ANY developer. If I had bought the upgrade for Saurus I would have been paying more than what I paid for DIVA, and for a synth that's clearly inferior. And I would have paid for things that are basically minor updates to the engine, not NEW features.

In my POV, a version 2.0 implies new features, expanded engine, etc. These are small updates to the SAME thing.

I really didn't get who don't do sales, nor do I get what does that mean in terms of price and "upgrades", or the possibility to get Saurus directly from Tone 2 site. I got DIVA directly - what's the difference?

As I said, Tone 2 prices aren't that different from U-He prices (their synths usually are priced at 149,00 although I never paid that for any of them). And what's in discussion here is a company asking for an upgrade price on something that, IMO, is NOT and upgrade, but an update. I bought Electra 2 upgrade, because I considered that an upgrade, but not Saurus 2.

So, you got it for free? Good to know. Here is a fair moment from Tone 2. Anyway, I even got it out of my VST folder now, to not have any more problems with the PACE software, and having my computer shut down in the middle of a scan.

BTW: Those knobs in version 2 SUCK big time.

Again, you either buy, or you don't. I don't see how arguing about it is going to improve things for you. I refrained from buying Icarus too, mainly because there were some niggles i had with the synth's architecture, and some missing features, but also their resale policy, which requires that you purchase a transfer token for about 24 € to transfer their then becoming NRF plugins. Practically their synths almost become NFR as the first purchase then, i sold Electra2 here for 70 €, which is already more than half of its new price, plus had to pay 24 €, and Paypal fees, so it was rather like 44-45 €. That's a joke.

Anyway, that's basically why i decided not to buy Icarus. But everyone has to decide for him/herself. Isn't it nice that we have the choice on the market, to see what product we want to go for? Imagine they all had the same pricing, same features, same sound. In North Korea, they do, so i heard. :P

That's your opinion, I really like the upgrade, all of it, free or not.

And actually, I kind of cornered them and made sure I screenshot the "mistake" they made originally saying it was for free. I'd be surprised if someone else didn't confront them about it. Too late now.

Yeah, it seems this thread is deteriorating. Ya don't like it, big deal. Some do.

And isn't it great that we have the oportunity to explain why something that is being praised has some drawbacks and problems? That's what I've been doing. It will not improve Saurus 1, but will eventually make customers be aware for the future, and Tone 2 to think better about their policy, when launching more "upgrades".

Besides, you ended up launching gasoline into the fire :hihi: And I think you wanted to say that the price you sold Electra2 is LESS than half the current price (which isn't exactly comforting for potential buyers - a synth with about two years in the market being so devalued)

Good for you. Since you're entitled your opinion, I'm entitled mine. Feel free to lock the thread. What has to be said was said, and I'm glad to know how things work for you :hihi:

So, you got a privileged treatment because you "cornered" them. How nice  Again, I'm glad to know how ethics work, both for you and for Tone 2. Fortunately, I have a different vision of life.

Well, what i wanted to state is my experience. I wouldn't go around, and tell other users what they have to do though, or constantly go around telling my Tone2 plugin purchase story. Everyone has to know, and see for himself, if it's worth it or not.

This thread is about Saurus, and I posted about Saurus, and how the "upgrade" wasn't exactly an upgrade IMO, and therefore I didn't got it, and ended up being forced to give up on Saurus because Tone 2 PROTECTION conflicts with PACE protection, and the version they sent me by e-mail (which I still didn't get why isn't an official update) only solved the problem temporarily. IMO, it's completely on topic.

I never said Saurus is a bad synth. But I don't have any reason to praise it either, compared to some other synths. And judging from the demo, the "upgrade" (which I would have to pay for, contrary to some other users) would not improve things that much, IMO.

Now the insults. From a person who act as a child, buying and selling toys, changing ideas and buying them again, what else could we expect? Have a nice day, kid. Don't forget to clean up your room when you finish playing.
