Can anyone verify from experience that these two keyboards are truely using the same keys inside? The S90 is the best piano controller I've played, but I obviously don't need the extras, just the controller itself.

I heard that Yamaha uses the same keyboard for all the models...but I played different Yamaha digital pianos and they felt different to me (I played a cheap model called YS-something, and it wasn't as good as my P100). I think you should go to a music store and play it before you buy it.

I agree with Kajiki. Even the ES8 and S90 are not identical, although they are very close. I am waiting for the S90 to be enhanced to the ES engine (and get a ribbon). Buy it in a heartbeat if I have the money at the time.

Ya, I played some Yamaha Digital pianos, but unsure of the model # though. Felt totally different. And yes, the ES8 did feel different than the P90. Damn. I hope Guitar Center has a P60 I can check out then. :? I'm not spending $2000 for the P90 that's for sure.

Yes, Guitar Center did have both the S90 and the P60. They both felt great, so I walked outta there with a P60. :) Best part, it has built in speakers, so I can turn it on and just play if I want, without having to bring up the whole studio, and it has MIDI in/out. Only piano board I've played that's felt like a real piano.
