Hey fellas!
I'm looking for interesting texture libraries to create unique soundscapes.
Recently I found "Modwheel - Strained Wire + Garotto", which is very very cool. Hoping to be able to find some more interesting ones.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Nick

For others' reference:
MODWHEEL, Sample Libraries and Virtual Instruments for Kontakt | STRAINED WIRE + GAROTTE
http://www.modwheel.co.nz/blank
A rather impressive library. Really nice.

This might be better in the soundware/sample libraries-section.
For drones, evolving soundscapes?
These are not cheap, but very good options versus ready-made sample libraries, as you say you wish to build your own:
-Omnisphere, a great synth, but also an amazing texture and drone-machine. Although the drones have a certain recognizable sound, but you can create your own either by using the soundsources/mixing different patches.
-Absynth, comes with Komplete, pretty simple to feed it your own samples, although I haven't yet figured out the best approach as I'm fairly new to it. But it's CPU-light and I know many composers use it to create granular soundscapes and textures and like Omni, it comes with a great preset-library.
-Free: Paulstretch, not a plugin, but a program that takes audio you feed it and can stretch them into drones even as long as weeks.
Sample libraries/developers
Modwheel, as already mentioned
Rhythmic Robot
99Sounds, check out Exodus by Bryan Lake
Soundiron
Other stuff recommended: Good long reverb, Delay and Filters
Hope this helps!

Textures? It's a vague term and it really depends on what type of textures you are looking for.
But you might check Hiss And A Hoar. Lots of textured sounds. Raw ultra-high quality captured sounds, not processed nor transformed which is great cause that gives you plenty of room do work & manipulate the samples yourself: http://hissandaroar.com/
Twisted Tools also have some samplepacks with very wild sci-fi textures of all sort. Almost too wild for me personally but still it’s worth mentioning: http://twistedtools.com/
Simon Stockhausen also have some interesting soundpacks, full of weirdness, textures and soundscapes: http://patchpool.de/samples.html
